The sudden death of Ray Luxton, beloved adopted Father and Grandfather of the Grantley family was a tremendous shock to everyone in Little Trenchard, especially to James, who was there when ‘Pops’ died. Gradually they rallied and followed their chosen paths, generously helped by the bequests from Ray, but totally unaware of the further scandals that awaited them. Melissa fled abroad to escape the trouble she'd caused, feeling very smug at how easily she had managed to disappear. She met and married a local Millionaire knowing that he could well afford to keep her in the style of life she craved. She deceived Gabriel Rankine, gave him nothing except the promise of an heir which she had no intention of keeping! Immediately after she gave birth to her son, who she refused to acknowledge, she left Grand Cayman and returned to the UK. In Bristol, she moved back into her previous flat and promptly made extensive renovation plans and to start a Property Business. She renewed her quest to have her revenge on the James family. This time she was determined to carry her plans through! She hadn't forgotten Gabriel! He forced her to have that wretched child, she would make him pay dearly for that! Whilst Melissa was plotting and planning, the families in Little Trenchard were expanding their businesses, trying to ignore the ever-present threat of Melissa being close by, their only comfort that she was totally unaware of being watched and tracked.
