Wren Maxwell's father made a decision to send his son to a new school on another planet, but now he was having second thoughts. On his ranch on Brillset, he was breaking a wild stallion, knowing the messenger waiting at the fence wanted not only his signature but his son. Torkay Maxwell was rightly worried as Wren just turned nine years old. Retired after 20 years as a Viper Blue Agent with the Lor Rangers, he had spent the past two years with his son, dreading this day knowing the boy wasn't ready. He rode to the gate, slid from the saddle and handed the reins to a groom. He removed his gloves while walking toward the messenger. Barr would be bringing word that Wren had received a full scholarship to Master Esparatin's Academy. He soon learned the scholarship package included a ticket for Wren to travel to the Academy in the V-B5 Thunderbird, a new spaceship considered the fastest in the Universe. Now Torkay wondered if he had made the right decision sending his son on such a dangerous journey. Meanwhile, playing on a ball field at school, Wren was trying to decide how to tell his friends he was leaving not only the school but his mother, father and two brothers to fly half-way across the universe. His dad said it would be a grand adventure, but he had never been away from home without his parents. At the new school, he would meet students from other worlds, and their appearance would not be like the friends he left at home. Also, the VB-5 Thunderbird would travel through a fiery Time Continuum Strand and there were other dangers along the way, but his dad said Captain KeSouri was a great pilot who would keep him safe. When the time came for Wren to leave, with quivering nerves, he boarded the huge VB-5 Thunderbird, and as it approached the CT Strand Wren had never been this scared before. He could not see how they could get in through that fiery entrance, and then how would they get out. He had heard rumors of pirates who waited to attack travelers when they exited at the end gate. It was going to be a long trip and there was much to see and learn. Just then, he saw a space blink open in the center of the fiery entrance and the ship flew straight through lightning strikes into the strangest sight he had ever seen. He had no idea soon at his new school, he would be running for his life. An exciting read for any age.
