Heaven on Earth is a unique perspective on the Holy Eucharist. We see here how the promise of our partaking of the divine Life arises in the religious history of humanity and culminates in the humanizing of the divine and the divinizing of the human. We consider the scientific account of the origin and nature of different kinds of life in the Universe. And it is in this context that we come to see that the progressive elevation of matter in the history of the Universe reaches its climax and consummation in the descent of the divine Life - a theophany most evident today in the celebration that was in ancient times described as the Discipline of the Secret.

This is a book about Padre Pio, one of the most extraordinary personalities of the modern era. Literally extra-ordinary Padre Pio was best known for bearing the stigmata, the wounds of the crucified Christ, for fifty years. But the stigmata made up just one dimension of his witness to the world. He was known also for: -being in two places at the same time-speaking with clarity and accuracy of future events-interacting with those in the next world-combatting the forces of evil that ceaselessly attacked him-serving as an instrument of inexplicable healing for the sick-reading the minds of those who came to him-manifesting his presence through manifold fragrancesPadre Pio never asked for any of this, least of all the painful stigmata. But, as he always emphasized, they were all gifts of God bestowed solely for salvation and sanctification. He sought only to be obedient.Here we consider the world of Padre Pio against the backdrop of modern science and thought.
