This study details the on site inspection and analysis of a running indigenous manufacturer and exporter in the highly competitive capacitor industry in S. India. Since the liberalisation of the Indian Economy in the 1990's many scenarios have changed. The easy availability of cheap imports, takeovers, mergers, legislation have altered the scenario.This particular industrial unit was a pioneer in the industry starting in 1972. The fact that it has withstood market forces and has survived for several decades is due to various factors. The study atempts to parametrise various business parameters, supply chain parameters, and give numbers to otherwise notional and heuristic concepts. Shortly after the study was completed the COVID Crisis hit India and the world. The survival tactics used by the industrial unit studied are crucial for entrepreneurs.and other strtups.

An overview with descriptions of the alternatives to fossil fuels is provided. Sufficient details are given to enable the reader to proceeed with constructing or developing items like a biogas digester, designing a wind turbine, solar heater and other simple technologies. Alternative sources of Energy are not Hi-Tech, and even a layman can understand the principles involved. The Enabling of Rural Technologies should be the aim of even the Multinational Corporations. Every Indian citizen is enjoined by the Constitution to protect the Environment, and one of the essential tools is the knowledge of how alternative sources of Enenrgy could be used. It is hoped that such a study would be of use to students and the general reader.

A collection of problems with some solutions are added to help the undergraduate students of the Mechanical Engineering streams. The focus has been placed on helping the emerging engineer to face the exams and real world problems. Most texts contain theorems and standard exercises which are supposed to be memorized and repeated in the exams, which is the case in most large Universities especially in the Third World. It is hoped that the present work would act as a Bridge to further development.
