This story is seen through the eyes of diverse characters across America. As world events portend the coming inevitable, they that see an America ending nuclear war is upon them. To their dismay, the people around them would rather die than live without the America they have always known. Each protagonist comes to realize that if they don't leave home they will certainly die. Left with no choice, our characters reach out and are drawn to mates from other ethnicities who also want to live. Being single in the world means death; marriage and wife equals life After The Fire. The total destruction of civilization allows total intimacy, shining light on 'happily ever after'; perhaps our most universal longing. Couples marry and are intensely passionate, their love the zenith of their lives. Transcendent adoration of the Wife is openly explored and celebrated.While love and marriages strengthen, anticipation of nuclear war builds as world events move the inevitable closer. The couples' preparations allow their love to go on After The Fire. To survive all must undertake a journey to seek refuge as disaster looms. They are Twenty-First Century war refugees fleeing for their lives: In the process becoming Pioneers reaching for nature's abundance deep in the sanctuary of the distant unsullied American countryside. Majestic cumulus storm clouds rise 60,000 feet into azure blue sky, able to be seen for hundreds of miles. But their shape and towering beauty foreshadow the impending specter of the many mushroom clouds that will bring death, the end of civilization, creating the intrinsic necessity for true love. Some survivors gather books, scant hard evidence of knowledge secreted in caverns, dug into sheltering earth against the new Dark Ages when digitized wisdom will be lost; when networks break and hard drives melt.Overarching narrative: Regardless of one's station or circumstance, God miraculously brings love to those who long.
