Butcher is a work of fiction describing the travails of a wandering butcher who has the gift of reading people. Throughout the course of the novel, the reader will find herself or himself immersed in the idiosyncrasies of American small town life and the immensity of emotions that come as worlds collide. Butcher, the book, is filled with humor, intrigue and dashes of psychological mystery that captivate the reader to want more. Butcher is the first book in the series entitled The Amicable Circle. The next two books are Baker, and, of course, Candlestick Maker.

When the Amicable grain elevator explodes, the town is left in shock and disbelief as their livelihoods are threatened. In order for the town to recover, the elevator's damage must be assessed by Baker Insurance and their lead investigator, Stedman Boswell. As the cocky, young insurance adjustor drives his Porsche into Amicable, Leo Jensen, a butcher and amateur psychologist, recognizes that Boswell has no intention of helping the town recover. As the town protects itself against the outside threat, misadventures and follies occur threatening the fabric of the town's survival. Will neighbor turn against neighbor, friend against friend? Will Baker come out on top? Baker is the second book in the Amicable Series.

Son of a Butcher is book IV of the Amicable circle which continues the narrative of the small town of Amicable, Iowa. It details the story of Butcher's son, J.T., who possesses almost miraculous visual powers. With these, he notices, during his father's funeral, his Watcher. Intrigued by this newcomer to town, J.T. and his new best friend, Murgatroyd MacDonald, a young English immigrant, attempt to discover the identity of the Watcher and ultimately if his intensions are good. Throughout Son of a Butcher, the reader will find the spectrum of emotions similar to the rest of the Amicable Circle but with a true nail-biting finale. Will the people of Amicable uncover the Watcher's designs, or will Rhonda, the butcher's wife, be pulled under by the malevolence of a dark plan?
