Born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic (1982-) overcame tremendous physical and emotional challenges as he grew up. Growing up in Hawaii, Bethany Hamilton loved being outside and joining her friends and brothers in adventures. She especially loved to surf. One calm morning while she was waiting for a wave, a fourteen-foot tiger shark crept up on her and swiftly severed her arm. After being rushed to the hospital and recovering, this thirteen-year-old was determined to surf again. And she did -- just three weeks after her accident. Overcoming doubts and physical challenges, Bethany went on to compete in surfing contests around the world and has inspired millions through her strength and faith to keep riding the waves. (1990-)
