for the Good Times is the story of two people who shared a lifetime that began when they met, still in their teens, and is now recounted by just one of them. Had the other survived instead, the narrative would, no doubt, be shaded by differences in individual perception, yet it is as true a tale as the mind of the writer can conceive, told in passages of prose and poetry.

Abandonment, adventure, tragedy, betrayal, murder, mystery, achievement, love, life, redemption, survival-the arcs of Bowie Masters' and Morgan Morel's young lives are radically different, yet tragically the same. Abandoned by his parents, Bowie struggles alone to understand and survive in a friendless world. Morgan finds support and direction from a wealthy uncle and loving aunt after his parents' sudden death. Unknown to each other, their lives are destined to eventually intertwine. When fate brings the two men together, they are drawn into a close yet troubled friendship. They fall in love with beautiful twin sisters-undocumented immigrants from Mexico. Choice and chance grapple as their lives unfold.

Sharing the poet's personal thoughts and emotions, the scraps and pieces that Patchwork Poems comprise were generated over several years that offered both stress and satisfaction. Individual poems display bits of philosophy, understanding, wonder and wit. Collectively, they form a cohesive whole, stitched together with craft and caring.
