A group of convicts at Bodell State Penitentiary in Arizona blasted their way out. Once they had gained their freedom, they knew what to do. They had to avenge themselves against their previous gang leader. During the trial for their crimes they took the bum rap for their former boss by taking upon themselves all guilt and always seeking to protect him from the law's justice. But he double crossed them. He did not help them at all while they were in prison and instead ran off with the money they had acquired from their crimes. Now that they had gained their freedom, they split up, and all had as their main intention to find out where their crime boss went and then get their share of the money he stole from them. But not so fast. Death was to lay sway on their progress. Their quest was fraught with deadly danger. So they were on a journey to avenge themselves of their former boss's treason while being aware that to do so they had to stay alive in order to succeed. The criminal mastermind who they are seeking has distanced himself by taking refuge in Alaska. So, the skillful Alaskan detective Bill Koldak becomes involved as the avalanche of escaped convicts' heads to the Last Frontier to get even with their treacherous former boss. He leads a rich life as he hosts many parties while hiding his past life. Koldak is drawn in to keep him safe while at the same time attempts to expose his crimes and bring him to justice.

In this novel Phillip, the hero of Melting Man, is joined by two mighty women, Gema and Chameeka. Chameeka is a ferocious street fighter while Gema is an expert in martial arts. They both have felt that in life they have to look after themselves and persons needing all kinds of protection.They are also highly intelligent women who have developed in many ways, including displaying their pictorial artistic talents. These make them the pride of the schools they have attended. All the while, they make sure that the weak and the shy are protected from bullying. While producing paintings as mature women, they become acquainted with the melting powers of the Melting Man. They further develop as Melting Women so they can provide another approach to helping the needy. So it is when these two outstanding women join the Melting team, they deliver a great deal of action conducive to the betterment of civilization as they add their newly endowed powers to the civic development of their city.

New Orleans is a city of love. It appreciates the lives of all living creatures. The Big Easy is big hearted. It cherishes all with no regard to their flaws. Therefore, Johnny Smith comes repeatedly to this loving realization as he visits various neighborhoods of the city. He observes this fine quality as he comes in contact with interesting persons in all levels of society. He notices it all with good humor and laughs at the missteps of human nature including many of his own. Also, of great importance to him is trying to discover who will be the main object of his romantic desires as he travels throughout the city's diverse metropolitan communities. He soon discovers that finding his true love is a hard grind towards final success but has as compensation lots of affectionate adventures as well as thrilling moments in "The City That Care Forgot." Richard Edgar Zwez knows intimately that New Orleans is a romantic city. It brings forth rivers of joy in its parades and festivities that include all of its residents, as well as extending an invitation to all visitors who would like to participate. The author is well aware of this since both as a child and as an adult he experienced the warm-hearted and welcoming spirit of the Big Easy as a grade school student and while he attended the University of New Orleans for his BA degree and Tulane University for his MA degree. He came to cherish the contacts he had with all sorts of persons in the various and diverse interesting neighborhoods of this cosmopolitan metropolis. And as an educator he further extended his feelings for the caring attitude of the city residents. He also became aware of the love felt by those engaged in their search for romance.
