Robert, a language teacher, leaves England in 1976, accompanied by his adventurous Belgian partner, Moni, to take up a job teaching English in Barcelona. What was to have lasted just a year turns into six years. Robert's unfolding story becomes a voyage of discovery out of which emerges a full-length portrait both of Barcelona and of the two people who plunge into the unknown of this magical, sometimes darkly phantasmagorical, city. The many experiences narrated are caught in the light of a time full of great social and political change following the death of Franco. Together with this, fleeting moments in the couple's lives are crystallized into a Proustian permanence. Barcelona One More Time is a revealing, many-layered tale of two people, a place and a time.

The writer of these letters was a mere boy when he entered the Confederate service, as a member of the Fourth Regiment South Carolina Volunteers, where he served during the first year of the war, being respectively in the commands of Generals Evans and Jones. He afterwards served in the "Palmetto Sharpshooters," attached from time to time to Generals Anderson's, Jenkins' and Bratton's Brigades, and to General Longstreet's, Pickett's, Hood's and Fields' Divisions. He subsequently served in General Longstreet's Corps. The letters were written by Lieut. Richard Lewis, to his mother, at various times during the war, and are printed "just as they were written there and then," and illustrate the facts and inspirations of Camp Life, Marches, &c., as created in the then youthful mind of the writer.

At the age of 44, renowned comedian Richard Lewis found himself on a gurney in the ER, toxic with alcohol, and hallucinating from excess cocaine use. The same neuroses and dysfunctions that had been the basis for his successful stage persona and inspired his best material had, it seemed, turned on him. How he got there, how he finally got on the road to recovery, and how he copes with being Richard Lewis sober on a daily basis are the subjects of this very funny, deeply honest, inspiring, but very untreacly book. USA Today called it "candid and inspirational., A journey through Lewis' personal Inferno to eventual salvation."
