Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does God allow children to die?" This book will take you on a short journey in search of the answer to these questions. But be ready for the brutal truth. The story you are about to read is a glimpse into the brutality that exists in our culture and around the world. The intent is not to glamorize or make light of it, but allow you to see how awesome God is in the midst of it.Paul in his letter to the Romans stated that "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: Those who are called according to His purpose." Robert Saunders has discovered the truth of this statement first hand in his life (though it came many years later than Adam's experience in the story).Journey with Adam and Tina to find some answers to your questions. There just might be a new awakening of God's Spirit in you.

Questions from the lowest of lows who received answers from the Highest of Highs."Who am I to God and why does He love me?" Such questions are often asked by people who suffer from low self-esteem, a variety of addictions, afflictions, and life controlling issues. I asked myself that same question many times after having an encounter with God. Once I discovered the answer, it helped me to reconcile in my mind that a terrible and even an evil person could be loved by God. Not only can a person be loved but also restored to sanity through intimacy with the creator God.One thing is for certain, we do not go after God first. The Bible says clearly that no one comes to Jesus unless they are drawn by God the Father. God demonstrates His mercy and love toward us by drawing us to Himself while we are still a sinner. God doesn't want his children to be separated from Him. He knows that we are corrupted and without the strength or knowledge to seek Him out on our own. With that in mind, it is my prayer for you to read this book with an expectation of being encountered by the God who created you. He is a God who loves you with His entire being. The Bible tells us that, "God is love" (1 John 4: 8 & 16). How comforting it is to know that

Saunders presents the first full biography of the southern U.S. Supreme Court justice who championed both the U.S. Constitution and states' rights. The life of John Archibald Campbell reflects nearly every major development of 19th-century American history. He participated either directly or indirectly in events ranging from the Indian removal process of the 1830s, to sectionalism and the Civil War, to Reconstruction and redemption. Although not a defender of slavery, he feared that abrupt abolition would produce severe economic and social dislocation. He urged southerners to reform their labor system and to prepare for the eventual abolition of slavery. In the early 1850s he proposed a series of reforms to strengthen slave families and to educate the slaves so as to prepare them for assimilation into society as productive citizens. These views distinguished him from many southerners who steadfastly maintained the sanctity of the peculiar institution.Born and schooled in Georgia, Campbell moved to Montgomery, Alabama, in the early 1830s, where he joined a successful law practice. He served in the Alabama legislature for a brief period and then moved with his family to Mobile to establish a law practice. In 1853 Campbell was appointed an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. His concurring opinion in the Dred Scott case in 1857 derived not from the standpoint of protecting slavery but from an attempt to return political power to the states. As the sectional crisis gathered heat, Campbell counseled moderation. He became widely detested in the North because of his defense of states' rights, and he was distrusted in the South because of his moderate views on slavery and secession. In May 1861 Campbell resigned from the Court and later became the Confederacy's assistant secretary of war. After the war, Campbell moved his law practice to New Orleans. Upon his death in 1889, memorial speakers in Washington, D.C., and New Orleans recognized him as one of the nation's most gifted lawyers and praised his vast learning and mastery of both the common law and the civil law.In this first full biography of Campbell, Robert Saunders, Jr., reveals the prevalence of anti-secession views prior to the Civil War and covers both the judicial aspects and the political history of this crucial period in southern history.
Democracy and the Vote in British Politics, 1848-1867
The Second Reform Act, passed in 1867, created a million new voters, doubling the electorate and propelling the British state into the age of mass politics. It marked the end of a twenty year struggle for the working class vote, in which seven different governments had promised change. Yet the standard works on 1867 are more than forty years old and no study has ever been published of reform in prior decades. This study provides the first analysis of the subject from 1848 to 1867, ranging from the demise of Chartism to the passage of the Second Reform Act. Recapturing the vibrancy of the issue and its place at the heart of Victorian political culture, it focuses not only on the reform debate itself, but on a whole series of related controversies, including the growth of trade unionism, the impact of the 1848 revolutions and the discussion of French and American democracy.

On 5 June 1975, voters went to the polls in Britain's first national referendum to decide whether the UK should remain in the European Community. As in 2016, the campaign shattered old political allegiances and triggered a far-reaching debate on Britain's place in the world. The campaign to stay in stretched from the Conservative Party - under its new leader, Margaret Thatcher - to the Labour government, the farming unions and the Confederation of British Industry. Those fighting to 'Get Britain Out' ranged from Enoch Powell and Tony Benn to Scottish and Welsh nationalists. Footballers, actors and celebrities joined the campaign trail, as did clergymen, students, women's groups and paramilitaries. In a panoramic survey of 1970s Britain, this volume offers the first modern history of the referendum, asking why voters said 'Yes to Europe' and why the result did not, as some hoped, bring the European debate in Britain to a close.
