Teach us, God, to read the Bible with wisdom and integrity. Tell us, in the light and in the darkness, the stories we need to hear.

But to fiercely prune them talk to them stake them water them watch the bees buzz around them feel the sun warming them protect them from interested birds nurture them see their colour deepen watch them swell to ripeness smell their promise of sweetness and then to pick them their juice staining my fingers and to eat them ... Autumn is a liturgical resource book that covers the months of August, September and October. It includes prayers, responses, stories, poems, liturgies, songs, reflections, scripts and monologues for the Christian seasons of Transfiguration, Ordinary Time and Harvest, as well as Angels’ and Saints’ days, World Day of Communion, Creation Time and All Hallows’ Eve. There are also poems for autumn, reflections on autumn leaves and fruits and autumn blessings. The material is written by Iona Community members, associates, friends and others.
A collection of blessings for the people, sadnesses, artefacts, special occasions and journeys of our lives. It also explores the tradition of blessings including biblical and Celtic, and offers ideas and resources to encourage readers to write blessings of their own with suggestions for how to organise a blessings workshop. Ruth Burgess, who is also co-editor with Kathy Galloway of "Praying for the Dawn: A Resource Book", leads liturgical workshops which often include 'blessing-writing'. She aims in this book to pass on her experience and knowledge.
This follow-up to "A Book of Blessings...and how to write your own" collects short prayers about friends, enemies, relationships and the particular moments and places of our daily lives.
