Years ago I pulled an old scrapbook out of a fire. Inside I discovered a treasure trove of old ads from the late 1800's. They include the latest washing machines, current fashions, and new farm machinery that includes plows and reapers. Few of the ads had dates on them, but the ones that did were dated 1882 and 1883. A look at these ads will take you back to an earlier time in history.

This is the eleventh book in the Lady Shilight Series. When she was young, Shilight fell in love with a man who instantly captured her heart. Tired of waiting for the two lovers to act, the queen urges Shilight to set a wedding date. Shilight agrees, but first she must travel to another kingdom to reclaim her black stallion. Even a run-in with a spiteful witch will not stop her.

More ads from the late 1800's. In my first book, Antique Watches to Sarsaparilla, I mentioned how I had pulled an old scrapbook out of a fire. Inside I discovered a treasure trove of old ads. Few had dates on them, but the ones that did were dated 1881, 1882 and 1883. Hope you find them as interesting as I do.

In the 19th century black and white hand drawings and color ads could be found in periodicals and magazines. There were ads for farm machinery, laundry soap, stove polish, and women's fashions. Victorian trade cards were a popular form of collectible advertising. The cards usually had a picture on one side and an ad on the other. Sit back and enjoy these old time ads from the late 1800's.
