When Baley Duncan steps off the bus in Reliance, Wyoming, everything about her life is about to change. Factor in one very disturbing "cowboy" type male, Sloan Walker, who is as unsettled as she is, and an aging matriarch, Ms Rose Merryweather, who keeps muttering about the calling, and you are about to take a glimpse through Eternity's Portal, Sometimes life has a way of letting us know that what we see isn't always all there is to see. The question is, are we listening?
This book is for anyone who has ever made a mistake in life causing another person pain, or who has been hurt themselves. That pretty much includes everyone who will be reading this book.Fixing those things that happen to us is sometimes easier than forgiving them. There is nothing within us as human beings that comes close to authentic forgiveness; not for others and definitely not for ourselves. There is only one place where true forgiveness for any need can be found. That is the Cross of Jesus. For centuries some have willingly run to that Cross and some have run from it. But regardless, it has stood steadfast as the epitome of Forgiveness.Within these pages is His forgiveness for all of us. That is my hope, my only reason for writing under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. That His words come off these pages bringing Life to the reader. That what you are left with is far more everlasting than a "good" story.
Fate? Destiny? A predetermined life? Whatever you believe, somehow we get from one event in our lives to another. Why do we often give credit to unfortunate situations as being the best thing that could ever have happened to us? Do we want to somehow believe that even those times are within our control to edit the outcome?Sandra Bloom never dreamed that coming face to face with fate, would be during a trip to the store for pretzels and beer for a husband who she might have shared a home with, but not really a life and definitely not her heart.
GRACE PORTLAND, sitting alone in a diner late one night, disillusioned with her current life, asked a question....what if? That question took her into a world that she thought was absolutely perfect. Grace thought she'd created her perfect world where she fit with everything and everyone. She knew the risk of going after a life that always seemed just outside of her reach; but it would be perfect, right? However, sometimes even perfect isn't perfect at all, it too may go through changes. Grace eventually finds out how many times a perfect dream can be transformed until it appears to become... impossible
Sometimes we come into this world with choices already made for us. These choices might not be the very best for our lives but there is nothing we can do about it until we grow up and start taking over our own lives. My life was a mystery for many years. I knew something wasn't right but I had no idea what it was or how I'd come by the self-destructive nature that I lived with every day. It wasn't until I had a conversation with my mother after trying to take my life, that I came to understand where it all began. After living a life of rejection, self-hatred, and one failed suicide attempt, I learned the truth of where all these feelings came from. Realizing that the place it started for me was from the womb made me have to take a long hard look at the truth of the bases of my life.If you as the reader have struggled with bullying, self-hatred, depths of rejection or even suicide then this book might help open your eyes and help lead you out of a lifestyle you were never meant to live."For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required."
It has been said that there is a thin line between fact and fiction. You will find that line throughout Tangled Lives often blurred. It is going to become your challenge, as the reader to untangle which of these characters was plucked from real life and which came from the creative mind of the author. Like most of the Author's books, she blends enough well-known personalities with fictional individuals for your reading pleasure. Maybe it's Moses Down, a pathetic young kid, who once hid from his neurotic Native American Mother under their front porch who one day astonishes Las Vegas goers. "The Apache wasn't a glitzy wonderland of sense-numbing slight-of-hand games encountered by busloads of grandmothers, senior citizens, or hopeful millionaires pouring into Vegas every moment of the day, it was more than that." Perhaps, it's about Matthew Dulay when you read, "This final Act 5 of his life was quieter. It was accompanied with humming engines, muffled conversations going on around him, and a sense of loss and complete and utter heartbreak enveloping him like a suffocating fog the likes that no man should ever have to endure." Or maybe it's Stone Blue that will come too close for comfort when you read, "The woman accepting the drink being offered her had morphed for all sense and purposes, out of Stone Blue the minute she walked into the room. At this moment, this woman had no recognizable identity, weaknesses, and absolutely no heart.""As she drew the last breath of hope out of everyone around her, Stone closed her eyes and let the image of her Grandfather form in a cloud of reckoning. More than the cards, more than the money, Stone Blue relished snatching the heart out of every person she played with, whether in cards or life." When you read, "Vegas might keep secrets, but it still has a good memory." Could it be speaking about Crystal De Holloway? Or will it be the characters on the fringes of the story like Misty Waters, Jeff Story, Joe Spade, or Sandy Foster that give you pause to wonder where they fit in. Either way, you're going to meet a group of people that you are either going to love or hate once you follow the threads of their lives and untangle them for yourself.
