The sea level has risen 200 feet as the ice melted, just like the scientists promised. All over the world, most of the seacoast has gone under. The resulting displacement of population caused riots and diseases. But the worst was yet to come. Climate change has made rain a thing of the past. As fresh water becomes the most precious commodity and people are willing to die for it, the arable land area shrunk. Now just growing enough crops in the few fertile areas is a full time job. Then a huge underground aquifer is found under old New Mexico, now in the Deadlands, abandoned by the new USC. Getting the superheated, highly pressurized water out and to a place where civilization still exists will be a fight against the outliers, the bad guys that populate the Deadlands.

This is sort of a memoir, sort of a remembrance, sort of a humor book. I grew up in south Georgia in the '50's. I was 8 in 1950 and 18 in 1960. I spent those formative years learning a lot of stuff, mostly things that are not approved subjects in school. Guns, girls, racing, smoking, liquor, fighting, all the things they don't teach in class. And maybe don't want you to know. Come along and see what it was like. Those innocent days are gone forever.

Edison is a normal sort of guy. Until he accidentally becomes the owner of some dope that a crook loses. It changes Edison's life in some not always good ways. His buddy, Leviticus loses his hair but meets Sunshine, a hippy girl. and starts to learn ballroom dancing. James the bartender watches all these antics, looking for his chance. with interest.

A collection of essays on various subjects. Mostly they are amusing, perhaps a couple on more more serious matters. Things that concern or bother the author and should perhaps bother everyione. The short story "Jury Duty" is the account of a real trial, a common murder, if murder can ever be common.
