A gentle, clear guide to finding hope and help in troubled days. "When you begin to understand what brokenness means, you will be armed with information that empowers you to take the steps that can turn your leaden feelings into opportunities for health and happiness. When you can accept (and perhaps even celebrate) your brokenness, you can cease your endless search for 'healing' and get on with your life, scars and all." —from Chapter 1 We each have broken areas of our lives. Whether from things that happen to us or as consequences of our own choices, there are times and situations where our very souls feel fractured. With wisdom and profound personal experience, Terry Taylor guides you through a compassionate yet highly practical process of facing, accepting, and finally integrating your brokenness into your life—a process that can ultimately bring mending. He offers a clear-eyed, kindhearted method based on teachings and practices from many religious traditions, including: Ancient Christian practice of Lectio Divina to face our brokenness Tibetan practice of tonglen to generate compassion for ourselves Jewish tradition of Sabbath-keeping to give us the space we need to mend Muslim practice of hajj—pilgrimage—to bring the journey full circle No matter your faith tradition, you will find lovingkindness and wise counsel in this useful, step-by-step guide to transforming these moments of supreme vulnerability into opportunities for reflection and spiritual growth.
Virtual Reality 101: All the stuff you need to know: (plus a little more.)
Virtual Reality 101: Everything you need to know (plus a little more)We are gradually getting to a point in technological advancement where the "crazy" and 'Wow That's so cool " things we read about in sci-fi novels and see in our movies may no longer be "someday" fiction, but may quickly become everyday interactions in our lives. The line between today's fantasy and tomorrows reality is a constantly moving one. The growth of our technology is exponentially pushing the frontier in our real, and virtual, world past preconceived limits. Would you like to experience the thrill of swimming with dolphins deep in the ocean without the fear of being in danger from sharks? What about being in a movie theater, playing a video game, watching your favorite team, interacting and cheering with your friends, while still being physical present in your own home? These and many more types of experiences are quickly becoming likely in the near future as the use of virtual reality technology continue to expand. In this book we will look at what virtual reality is, how it started, and how we use it today. We will also look at some of the fields it is disrupting, creating and destroying. We will discuss the differences between virtual reality and augmented reality and we will look at the economic drivers behind their development. Finally, we will touch upon the moral and ethical considerations that a fully immersive technology has a a culture. We will even engage on a fanciful "how far can this go" conversation.

Baron's Court, All Change is the Holy Grail of hipster novels.Terry Taylor's book documents one summer in the life of an unnamed sixteen year-old narrator. Leaving home and his job he dabbles in spiritualism, is seduced by an older woman and gets rich quick from drug dealing. This is a world of sharp suits, jazz, kicks, "spades", nightclubs and sex. A London that is already swinging half a decade before the rest of the world catches on.Terry Taylor (1933-2014) was the much younger lover of Ida Kar, whose National Portrait Gallery collection includes a series of photographs of Terry getting stoned in London's Soho back in 1956. His proto-mod exploits as a young man are fictionalised in Colin MacInnes' famous novel Absolute Beginners. Throughout Taylor's life music, magic rituals and hallucinogenic drugs loomed large. Terry spent time in Goa and hung out with William Burroughs in Tangier before settling down in the wilds of north Wales, where he continued to dig modern jazz and perfect his occult practices.
