Poetry to God Volume 1: Lord Please Hear the Cry
Publication Date: January 31, 2011 Poetry to God, Volume 1: Lord Please Hear the Cry presents a collection of verses that draw upon a personal spiritual journey to offer testimony to the redemptive nature of faith. After years of struggling with his addictions, author Terry Webb turned his life over to the care of God and invited the Lord Jesus into his heart. God has been in the midst of his deepest struggles and has now restored everything in Terry's life that was lost in his addiction. His poem, "You're Never Alone," recounts God's assurance of care and protection in even the most difficult of circumstances: You never cry alone, my child, For when you cry, I do ... Although this life may bring you pain, My child, just trust in me, And if you will obey my word, I'll give you victory Several poems offer praise to God, while in "The Heavens Glory of God" celebrates the beauty of God's divine creation: Enveloped in beauty, the silence of night, Sprinkled with stars in Heaven bright. In cloudless skies, the shimmering, The Heavenly stars are rendering. The glory of God, crisp and clear, His wondrous glory far, but near. Let Poetry to God move your heart and soul, and draw you closer to the Lord

Tending to the urgent task of protecting sea-going vessels from storm and fog keeps Louie scrambling, especially when equipment breaks down. And even with visits from mainland friends, island living is lonely. An injured sea gull becomes an unexpected pet and a visiting preacher becomes a new fishing buddy. But Louie grieves for his father and misses his best friend, Charlie. Then Louie receives wonderful news. Charlie plans to spend the month of August on Two Tree Island. August can't come quickly enough. But Louie finds that Charlie has changed a lot. Suddenly Louie must face difficult choices, especially when Charlie's behavior endangers the operation of the lighthouse."Manning the Light maintains family values and spiritual foundations that are important in my family's life today. "I'se me...I'se a person... caint nobody own me... "12-year-old Albert, a recently emancipated slave, tells his friend, Sam, in Terry Webb's novel, Costly Freedom. In this book, Albert, Sam Benedict and Sam's school friend, Will Cobb, are caught in the chaos, desperation and bitterness of white southern Georgia after the Civil War has ended. The three boys face challenging experiences reestablishing their friendship, starting school again and dealing with the violence of the Ku Klux Klan. This book-written specifically about life during the period of Reconstruction in the South- fills a needed void in historical fiction for youth. It reminds them-lest they forget-the struggles black Americans have endured during the two-hundred years since Abraham Lincoln's presidency. It reminds southerners just how far they have come in accepting them. So today, every Albert, Sam, and Will can proudly say, "I can be who I want to be when I grow up."The author captures in Costly Freedom, some of the oral history stories handed down from her Benedict relatives about their lives in Georgia during and after the Civil War. The setting for her historical fiction book series for youth, Manning the Light, Weathering the Storms, Mystery and Mishap, Leaving the Lighthouse occurs at the beginning of the period of the Industrial Revolution. Her other historical fiction book captures the formative years in Vermont of Thaddeus Stevens, who helped run away slaves and supported emancipation.Dr. Webb holds a Masters in Education and a doctorate in Family and Marriage Counseling. Her background as an advocate for Civil Rights informs her writing.

Thaddeus Stevens: The Making of an Inconvenient Hero
Not until Lincoln, the epic blockbuster movie, was Thaddeus Stevens' passion exposed regarding civil rights for black slaves. Until then, few knew Stevens' importance in the Emancipation Proclamation and the passage of the thirteenth and fourteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Thaddeus Stevens: The Making of an Inconvenient Hero is an exciting fictional story based on historical fact about "Thad" as a teenager-after his father deserted the family, leaving the family penniless. Brought to life with vivid descriptions and colorful scenes are Thad's character, physical challenges, and the strong opinions and actions he took to help runaway slaves. We applaud Dr. Webb in her efforts to recreate Thaddeus Stevens' youth, here in Vermont, as a way to piece together historical events and his personal life. For any young student who feels unheard; for any student who is described as disabled; for any student whose parentage is different; for any student whose economic status feels disadvantaged, he or she need only look at Thaddeus Stevens. He chose hope over despair, victory over victimhood, and power over helplessness. -Julie Hansen, Director Thaddeus Stevens School, Lyndon Center, Vermont Dr. Terry Webb writes historical fiction novels for all interested in United States history, and especially for tweens and middle school students to learn about American culture and customs. Dr. Webb's academic credentials include a Master's degree in Education and a Doctorate degree in Family and Marriage Counseling Addiction Intervention. With over two hundred poems diving into the spiritual journey of every man, this collection forms the poet's plea for the masses to awaken from the slumber of earthly activities and seek God. He understands, better than most, that no individual is a model of perfection; however, his emphasis with his poetry compilation is on growth and ultimately embracing the love of the Lord into one's heart. From his darkest days, he discovered the mercy of God and believes that anyone else can too. This conviction is strongly prevalent in each poem he composes. "The Dream" is Webb's version of a warning signal to man that he is headed down the wrong path.-The U.S. Review of Books
