Their variable strength is claimed to account for numerous effects including differences between individual analytical levels, differences between languages as well as pathways of language acquisition and breakdown. English is found to be consistent in its branching direction and to have evolved its branching direction in line with the cross-level harmony constraint. Structure sensitivity is argued to be highly variable both within and across languages and consequently an unlikely candidate for a defining property of human language.

Det saknas idag en marxistisk redogörelse för Den stora proletära kulturrevolutionen (1966-1976), d.v.s. en redogörelse som utgår från ett historiematerialistiskt perspektiv. Denna bok ämnar fylla detta tomrum. Den avser även att belysa de händelser som ledde fram till kulturrevolutionen samt att visa hur denna revolution hade en teoretisk grund i Marx och Engels lära. Kulturrevolutionen initierades av Mao Zedong utifrån den vetenskapliga insikten att klasskampen fortsätter under socialismen. Den stora proletära kulturrevolutionen var således en landsomfattande klasskamp mot borgerliga element inom Kinas kommunistiska parti som ville återställa kapitalismen. Det var även en kamp mot det gamla samhällets kvarlevor som hade en korrumperande verkan på partimedlemmarna och hindrade socialismens vidareutveckling till kommunismen.
