The investment markets have never been more dangerous. Interest rates are at all-time lows; the sanctity of cash deposits is under threat; government bonds are expensive and offer ultra-low or negative yields; equity markets are largely detached from reality after years of loose monetary policy. Investors need to calibrate themselves to the realities of this extraordinary new environment so that they can protect their wealth and, ideally, prosper. In Investing Through the Looking Glass, longstanding portfolio manager and investment columnist Tim Price identifies and shatters a number of investment myths and misconceptions. He questions whether stock markets inevitably rise over the longer term, whether bonds continue to be relevant as a failsafe low-risk asset, whether professional fund managers represent "smart money", and much more besides. But this is not just a counsel of despair. Having identified the problems besetting today's investor, the focus then moves on to practical guidance to help investors preserve and grow their capital in this age of inflationary and deflationary uncertainty. Tim Price provides ideas on how to find attractive investments in distorted equity markets, on what might be the best-kept secret in finance, and how best to insure portfolios in an environment of heightened systemic risk.Investing Through the Looking Glass presents a route map for navigating one of the most challenging financial environments that anyone has ever seen. For the sake of your wealth, can you afford not to read it?

Every few years, a book comes along that makes an important contribution to the history of American sport, even though—or, maybe, because—its storyline delves into the obscure. The event that launches the narrative in Shooting for the Record is the 1959 news report that strapping and handsome Tom Frye had broken sharpshooting’s endurance world record after he shot at 100,000 hand-thrown wooden cubes and missed only six. But even as the Guinness Book of World Records immortalized Frye, previous record-holder Adolph Toepperwein, having just reached his 90th birthday, was sitting down to write a letter accusing Frye of cheating. Frye and Toepperwein were the two top-performing riflemen in the history of shooting sports, with the span of one generation separating them. Both had performed hundreds of sharpshooting exhibitions on behalf of major firearms manufacturers Winchester and Remington. Shooting for the Record reminds readers of America’s longtime fascination with the shooting sports. It's a story that explores far beyond the nearly-superhuman feats of these two individuals. The author reaches back to the grand productions of 1880s Wild West shows and tracks the growth of shooting sports through today.

In a place where everyone knows your name you can't forget who you are. Life, love and loss in a picture postcard town is laid bare in this heart-breaking but darkly comic new play. Through a series of interweaving accounts For Once cuts to the heart of a family, and a community, turned upside down by unimaginable tragedy. For Once examines the fallout after a car crash on a country lane takes the life of two local teenagers, through three interlaced monologues by their surviving friend Sid and his parents, April and Gordon, exposing the pre-existing faultlines in the family. Sid has been left partially sighted by the crash, and his account of his life before and since the accident gives an insight into why young people living in what seems like 'ideal' communities are driven to seek thrills elsewhere, sometimes with horrifying consequences. However, far from being depressing, Tim Price's skill at capturing the revealing inarticulacy of the teenager, as well as his troubled parents, makes for unexpected humour. For Once is a powerful and incisive look at life and death in a small market town and premiered on 8 July 2011 at the Hampstead Theatre in a production by Pentabus Theatre.

Tim Price's Salt, Root and Roe is a heartbreaking, humorous tale of love and family set against a mythical backdrop.Set on the Pembrokeshire coast in West Wales, identical twins Iola and Anest remain devoted to each other. Ageing fast, and with the time they have together more fragile by the day, they arrive at a desperate decision. Word of this reaches Anest's daughter Menna, who rushes to her long abandoned childhood home where her own ideas of love and compromise are tested to the limit. In spite of the sombre themes of death and bereavement, the writing is light, textured and at times very funny: picking out moments of joy and sadness with seemingly effortless grace.Touching relationships and believable characterisation provide a poignant backdrop to Salt, Root and Roe, where pragmatism, exhausted lives and childrens' fairytales collide in this exploration of grief, loss and acceptance.
The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning

How did this happen? In 2013, the play won the James Tait Black Prize for Drama.
