Is your workforce strong enough to keep your company afloat? As the average worker’s skill levels decline, the labor supply is projected to decrease dramatically and exponentially--creating a skilled labor gap that the US Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates will leave our economy in need of tens of millions more workers. In his beneficial manual for businesses, Dr. Tony Zeiss shows your organization how to compete--aggressively--for the rapidly dwindling resource of skilled workers. As an experienced and award-winning educator, Zeiss has unique insights into the techniques that are necessary to attract, develop, and retain skilled and productive people to both public and private organizations. In Get ’Em While They’re Hot, you’ll examine how the right people can keep your products and services fresh and competitive, how to train your current workforce in the latest industry trends, and how to leverage and respond to job market changes to position your company for future success. The labor shortage is more than a hot-button political topic. This essential manual will help your company adjust to the challenges ahead, and do what is within its power to not only survive, but thrive.
Treasured Stories of the War Between The States By Those Who Witnessed It
Each of the stories in this book originated from eye witnesses of the U. S. War Between the States and have been passed down through two, three, and sometimes four generation of family members. Every effort was made to insure historical accuracy, but specific facts regarding the incidents portrayed in these family gems were often sketchy and incomplete. The stories, however, are unique in their own right and worthy of preservation in print. Most of my sources lived in the Carolinas and the primary theme their families remembered was the terrible way Union General Sherman's men decimated homes, farms, and businesses throughout Georgia and especially the Carolinas. However there are many stories presented from northern families as well. Humans have long family memories. These treasured vignettes, often the only link between twenty-first century families and their ancestors who participated in the war, should be enjoyed by people who wish to catch a first-hand glimpse of that historic era. Through these stories, we can all witness the events that veterans and eye witnesses chose to recall and share with their loved ones. In a small way, we can feel what it must have been like to be there, experiencing some of the human challenges of Americans in the nineteenth century.
Backcountry Fury A Sixteen-Year-Old Patriot in the Revolutionary War
This book chronicles 18 months in the life of sixteen-year-old Thomas Young who lived and fought in South Carolina during America's revolution. All but one of the main characters were real people, however the dialog in most instances was created. The dialog is based on knowledge gleaned from their personal histories, memoirs, pension records, and from research about the significant Revolutionary War events in which they participated.Thomas Young and his family and friends represent an exemplary display of sacrifice, courage, and determination in their pursuit of liberty for themselves and generations to follow. The southern colonies during 1780 and 1781 were thrust into a civil war between those loyal to Great Britain and those who sought independence from the crown. No one could straddle the fence on this fundamental issue. People lived in an environment of neighbor against neighbor, congregation against congregation, and sometimes brother against brother. It is against this backdrop that Thomas Young made his decision to fight for the liberation of his new country, the United States of America. The southern campaign of the Revolutionary War has been under emphasized by historical writers and it is hoped this work will help readers, especially young ones, develop a greater appreciation for the southern Partisans in particular and for all Patriots in general.
More Treasured Stories of the War Between the States
The intent of this book is to preserve an important part of our county's history. Each story featured here originated from eye witnesses of the War Between the States and has been passed down through two, three, and sometimes four generations. These, however, are the stories that the participants choose to pass on to their children and grandchildren. They are worthy of preservation in their own right, but more importantly, they present a vivid picture of what that trying time in our history was really like, from the ordinary person's experience.Every effort was made to insure historical accuracy, but specific facts regarding the incidents portrayed in these family gems were often sketchy and incomplete. It is hoped these treasured vignettes, often the only link between twentieth century families and their ancestors who participated in the War, will be enjoyed by people who wish to catch a glimpse of that historic period.
