I feel so grateful for my heritage. My mother and father instilled the principles of Christian living in me early. I watched my mother, who never preached a word, live the life of sacrifice and prayer. This taught me to be strong in the Lord. So many of my brothers and sisters are ministers. I also learned from them. If your name got on my moms prayer list, mark it down. Something had to give. She would fast for ten days without food, just drinking water until she heard from God. Many healings came about as an answer to moms prayers. This example led me and my household into a way of life that I tried to pass on to my children also. Then they have passed it on to their children. Not all of my grandchildren fast, but all hold the principles of faith very dear and are serving God. As you read this book, you will see that we are not stick-in-the-mud people. Sometimes we are silly Sometimes we are sad, but we never leave the teaching of our heritage. I have four children, thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. We are following Gods command to Adam to multiply and replenish the earth My hope is that as you read, you will laugh and sometimes cry with the Yarbroughs but will see the hand of God moving in each situation.
A young man whose mother had been killed while his father was driving drunk continued to live with his father. The abuse he suffered while the drink controlled his dad was unbearable. He decided to leave home and live under a bridge if he had to Looking for a warm place to sleep, he tried to get into a church. He remembered that some friends had said that churches were heated all the time. Before he got in the window, he swore a demon tried to get him Finally, he walked to his grandmother's house. As he played the piano, he and a group of friends became famous as the Bad Boys. But life was miserable. Finding his grandmother dead in her chair as she waited up for his "gig" to end devastated him. Changing his life wasn't as easy as he thought it might be. But the process, which he determined to travel, was wrought with many problems. After many years of serving God, he realized, as he looked at the bodies of his buddies who were part of the Bad Boys, his choice was the best.
