Launched as a military blog by the Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau in October 2006, The Sandboxoffers service members in Afghanistan and Iraq a unique way to share their stories with readers at home, www.gocomics.typepad.com/the_sandbox. In hundreds of fascinating and compelling posts, soldiers write passionately, eloquently and movingly of their day to day lives, of their mission, and the drama that unfolds daily around them. In just a few short months, the 140-character micro-blogging phenomenon known as Twitter has claimed much of what little discretionary time journalist Roland Hedley had left. This volume combines dozens of Doonesbury's Twitter strips with 500 actual "tweets" posted by the intrepid Hedley as he roams the globe on assignment. A sampling of these posts was recently featured in The New Yorker, and it's a given that the cluelessly self-obsessed Hedley will relentlessly over-promote the book to the thousands of readers who "follow" him.
