From attempted robberies to attempted rape, to drunken lesbian haters, the two encounter the gambit of two women living in the big city. This is a story of two women forming a bond together that holds up against all odds. Their passion for each other and life holds strong through all of their adventures. A story about luck at its best but then sometimes luck deserts us and life rears its ugly head. What will it be in Jessie's case, now that she's on her own?

Abby Masters, a Seattle detective and her partner Tom Culhane are sent to a parking garage excavation to handle a set of bones that have been dug up near Pike Place Market. The bones are well preserved and the case unfolds quickly. Their second case involves a senior sex club that boasts moneyed members with a lot of time on their hands. Through it all, Abby is trying to pursue a relationship with Maya Sinaga, the King County Assistant M. E. Abby's attention to Maya doesn't go unnoticed. And then there's Agnes Mosley an elderly lady that carries a brick in her purse and seems to have frequent encounters with purse snatchers. None of which ever escape "the brick".
