Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. This collector's edition is cleanly formatted for easy reading, 12 point Garamond, 1.15 spacing. Saint John Chrysostom was born in Antioch in 349 A.D. He was raised by his widowed mother who influenced him greatly. Although already living a devout life of study and prayer, Saint John officially became a monk when she passed away. He went into the wilderness where he wrote prolifically on the ascetic life. After many years he withdrew to a cave to live in complete solitude. He lived there for two years until he became ill and had to re-immerse himself in the world. He was ordained a priest in 386, and eventually earned the name "Chrysostom" (Golden-Mouthed) for his life-changing sermons. He became the bishop of Constantinople in 397 A.D.The royal court was extremely disturbed by Saint Chrysostom's passionate sermons and he was removed from the city by the empress. The second time the empress had him walked to a distant location. This proved to be too much for Saint John's frail body, and he ultimately died on September 17, 407 A.D.Saint John Chrysostom has had a huge influence on the Christian church. He is renowned for his inspiring words, his piety, and his denunciation of the abuses of authority. He is venerated as a saint in the Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran churches and more.Saint Chrysostom, His Life and Times is an important book about a significant Saint whose words and profound messages are still as life-changing today as they were in the fourth century A.D. Upon reading this book one feels as if having travelled back in time, navigating the age with Saint Chrysostom, attending his church, and walking with him to his death.

Persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness among high schoolers have risen astronomically since 2011. According to a Harvard study, "Young adults in the US report twice the rates of anxiety and depression as teens." Depression and other emotional issues have reached an all-time high, in terms of frequency and severity. Mental health specialists are sounding the alarm for all ages. As people experience significant increases in emotional challenges since COVID-19, leading to increases in suicides, author and educator Dr. Bill Stephens offers critical advice he found to be successful in his own struggle with depression. "To the extent that a person's life has been affected by past actions or reactions, a therapist can be the one to help untangle these confusions within a person's mind," Bill suggests, "but the impact of negative spiritual forces is now being recognized as a key factor in depression and only a spiritual solution can impact our minds, hearts, and souls in such a way as to give us relief." Using personal experience and key Bible passages on how to handle these issues, Bill provides needed instruction and direction to help anyone overcome the serious disease of depression.

Realizing there was little new for most serious Bible readers Bill wondered if he could present this sacred story in an innovative manner that would not offend any audience, but could interest old and new Bible readers alike. He wondered to himself, "what if we could go back in time and unseen, walk behind Jesus and His disciples, watching every move, listening to every word and every response to them as they made Bible history. Taking a moment to make our own fresh modern interpretation of the greatest story of history and be invigorated in these final days." That is what Bill Stephens has done in his new book Through the Eyes of Jesus: Coming to Appreciate Jesus More Fully. Bill wants his readers to be presented with a fresh and different perspective, through the eyes of a person somewhat like ourselves, who tries to really treasure, cherish, and hold precious, all that Jesus did in His day, continues to do, and will always do for us? Prepare to be refreshed.

Increasingly, teachers, youth workers, and social workers are being called on to ‘build resilience to radicalisation’. But, what does this actually mean? What is resilience to radicalisation, how can it be built, and whose role is it?Drawing on an interdisciplinary analysis of policies and the perspectives of practitioners themselves, this book offers a fresh look at these questions. Through unpacking different ways of thinking about resilience to radicalisation, this book aims to bring clarity to some of the key issues and debates involved. The book navigates between important critiques of resilience and the need for a practical and legitimate response to the challenge of extremism. Finally, it suggests a way forward for those grappling with this issue.
