When a string of poison-pen emails causes havoc in Adams County, criminal investigator Larry Macklin is just glad it's not his case-he's more worried about whether he's making a mistake applying for an open sergeant's position. Criminal investigator Larry Macklin is still in the doghouse with his father, the sheriff, after his impulsive and dangerous mission to rescue a colleague's kidnapped wife. But he soon has bigger problems when a childhood friend is found passed out near the dead body of a retired sheriff's deputy.
