The United States of American began in Philadelphia 1776 out of the "Holy Experiment" of the QuakersBritannica says; Society of Friends, Christian group that arose in mid-17th-century England, dedicated to living in accordance with the "Inner Light," or direct inward apprehension of God, without creeds, clergy, or other ecclesiastical forms. As most powerfully expressed by George Fox (1624-91), Friends felt that their "experimental" discovery of God would lead to the purification of all of Christendom. It did not. But Friends founded one American colony and were dominant for a time in several others, and, though their numbers are now comparatively small, they have made disproportionate contributions to science, industry, and especially to the Christian effort for social reform. From the website "Britannica"Tom Wolfe's (Author of this book) notes: "Britannica" may say the Society of Friends did not "purify Christianity". However each heart that has experimental discovery of God speaks for itself. "33 Ways 7 Faiths Agree with the Quakers" shows God's faithful consistency over thousands of years showing 33 common Principles of 8 of the world's Faiths that learn us how to as we Quakers say: "Let Our Lives Speak"

This classic of American literature tells the story of George Webber, a rising novelist, who returns to his hometown only to face a wave of hatred and rejection from the inhabitants, who feel his latest work ridicules their way of life. George goes into exile, first in New York, then London and continental Europe, living life to the full but burdened by the belief that he can never return to his roots. This work, although published posthumously and heavily edited from Wolfe's surviving manuscri

Originated in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of future King Ludwig I of Bavaria, the Munich Oktoberfest is the world's largest funfair. Locally called the "Wiesn," it is a glamorous part of Bavarian culture and, with 200 amusement rides, sidestalls and games, with 6 million visitors and 7 million liters of beer sold each year an important economic factor for the city. In spectacular pictures, Rainer Viertlboeck, a photographer who has received numerous awards and is the author of the recent Schirmer/Mosel publication M nchen, has documented the 2014 and 2015 Oktoberfests covering their entire 16 day runs.
The Story of a Novel * Die Geschichte eines Romans
