Sie ist zugleich eine bibliographische Dokumentation der Geschichte der germanistischen Woerterbuchforschung und Lexikographie des Deutschen im Kontext seiner wichtigsten lexikographischen Partnersprachen. DieBibliographie ist ein Arbeitsinstrument fur die Lexikographie zahlreicher Sprachen und fur die internationale Woerterbuchforschung; auch fur Lexikologen ist sie von Interesse.
