The book ""The Notion of Tradition in John Driedo: Dissertatio ad Lauream in Facultate Theologica, Pontificiae Universitatis Gregorianae"" by John L. Murphy is a scholarly work that explores the concept of tradition in the writings of John Driedo, a 16th-century Dutch theologian. The book is based on Murphy's doctoral dissertation, which he completed at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. The book begins with an introduction that provides an overview of Driedo's life and work, as well as the historical context in which he lived. From there, Murphy delves into Driedo's writings on tradition, examining his views on the relationship between Scripture and tradition, the role of the Church in preserving and interpreting tradition, and the importance of tradition in the development of Christian doctrine.Throughout the book, Murphy engages with Driedo's ideas in a critical and nuanced manner, drawing on a range of primary and secondary sources to provide a comprehensive analysis of his thought. He also situates Driedo's ideas within the broader context of the Reformation and the Catholic Counter-Reformation, highlighting the ways in which Driedo's views on tradition were both influenced by and contributed to these movements.Overall, ""The Notion of Tradition in John Driedo"" is a rigorous and insightful study of an important figure in the history of Christian thought, and will be of interest to scholars and students of theology, history, and philosophy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

Infinitism is an ancient view in epistemology about the structure of knowledge and epistemic justification, according to which there are no foundational reasons for belief. The view has never been popular, and is often associated with skepticism, but after languishing for centuries it has recently begun a resurgence. Ad Infinitum presents new work on the topic by leading epistemologists. They shed new light on infinitism's distinctive strengths and weaknesses, and address questions, new and old, about its account of justification, reasoning, epistemic responsibility, disagreement, and trust, among other important issues. The volume clarifies the relationship between infinitism and other epistemological views, such as skepticism, coherentism, foundationalism and contextualism, and it offers novel perspectives on the metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics of regresses and reasons.
This work explores the earliest extant discussions on the authority of the Hadith in Islam and compares them with contemporary debates. These lively and often polemical debates are mostly popular discussions in which Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures participate - making this topic relevant to Muslims in their daily lives, as well as a question of academic interest. What makes this book unique is that it is the first study to take into account both the earliest and most recent discussions of the oral tradition of the prophet Muhammad. The book also includes the first Western language translation of al-Shafi'i's Kitab Jima' al-'Ilm, which articulates arguments that were critical in establishing the position of the Hadith in mainstream Islam.
Our world is defined by advertisements. They make us smoke, drink, lose weight, buy things we do not need. Of course we see through them - or so we say. So how do advertisments work in today's culture? Ad Worlds is a readable introduction to the ways ads are produced, transmitted and interpreted, drawing on work in cultural studies, discourse analysis and marketing. It argues that advertising is not monolithic, and illustrates the complex and unpredictable effects of ads as they travel through different worlds - the client's, the agency's, and the medium's - before ultimately reaching ours. Challenging the view of advertising as an homogenous and all-powerful institution, Greg Myers focuses on the interactions that shape an ad, its circulation, and the responses to it. With each chapter centred on an analysis of a memorable commercial, the book reveals the author's genuine enjoyment of ads, their ingenuity and excitement.
Arbitration is the dominant method in the world for resolving international commercial disputes. As compared with institutional arbitration, ad hoc arbitration has many advantages that make it a preferred way to resolve commercial disputes on many occasions. The Arbitration Law of the People’s Republic of China, however, requires that parties appoint an arbitration institution in their arbitration agreement; otherwise an ad hoc arbitration agreement is invalid. This rule seems to preclude ad hoc arbitration under Chinese law and threatens the validity of many arbitration agreements that are imperfectly drafted. Fortunately, however, this does not mean Chinese courts will never enforce an ad hoc arbitration agreement or an ad hoc arbitration award. This book informs parties and practitioners of potential pitfalls related to ad hoc arbitration in China and offers practical guidance. It also conducts a comparative study of the history of arbitration in the Western world and in China, to identify the reasons for this hostility to ad hoc arbitration and calls for changes to this requirement under Chinese law.

AD HOC NETWORKS: Technologies and Protocols is a concise in-depth treatment of various constituent components of ad hoc network protocols. It reviews issues related to medium access control, scalable routing, group communications, use of directional/smart antennas, network security, and power management among other topics. The authors examine various technologies that may aid ad hoc networking including the presence of an ability to tune transmission power levels or the deployment of sophisticated smart antennae. Contributors to this volume include experts that have been active in ad hoc network research and have published in the premier conferences and journals in this subject area. AD HOC NETWORKS: Protocols and Technologies will be immensely useful as a reference work to engineers and researchers as well as to advanced level students in the areas of wireless networks, and computer networks.
