Den unge billedkunstner, Dora, gifter sig med den langt ældre Poul, der giver hende al den frihed, hun som kunstner har behov for. Hendes elsker, Markus, vil binde hende tæt til sig. Han forstår ikke hendes krav om uafhængighed, forstår ikke hendes forhold til Poul og er jaloux på ham. Markus må gifte sig, da han får at vide, at han venter barn med en veninde, og forholdet til Dora bliver yderligere kompliceret.Kvartetten er en selvstændig fortsættelse af Dora, der udkom i 2011. Hendes lejlighedsvise konfrontationer med ærkeenglen Gabriel, der egentlig er død, men har det med at manifestere sig, når det passer ham, finder stadig sted og bringer stadig stor forstyrrelse i hendes liv. Hendes nære ven, Sariel, er uden hendes vidende også en tidligere ærkeengel. Han elsker hende hemmeligt og høvisk og er til stor hjælp for hende, da hun slår igennem som kunstner.Kunst og kærlighed er undertiden besværlige størrelser, især når det er en kvindelig kunstner, der insisterer både på frihed og kærlighed.

Med Doras datter afsluttes fortællingerne om Antonie, Dora og Dina. De fire bøger er blevet skrevet over en lang årrække, og deres tidsforløb strækker sig fra begyndelsen af 1900-tallet til 2012. Dina er datter af Dora og Sariel, men da Dora er gift med Poul, beder hun ham påtage sig faderskabet. Den meget ældre Poul tager den lille pige til sig, og hun opfatter ham som sin bedstefar. Imens beskæftiger Dinas mor sig med sin kunst. Hun er blevet en kendt og efterspurgt maler. Dina vokser op og bliver en meget selvstændig, ung kvinde med tætte bånd til barndomsveninderne, “De fire med D”, som de kaldes. Dina, Dagmar, Drude og Dortea. Som små blandede de blod og kalder sig blodsøstrene med mottoet “Én for alle og alle for én”. Dina har, som sin mor, problemer med at finde sig til rette i et konventionelt forhold. Hendes to bejlere, den ene søn af Markus, der livet igennem har elsket Dora, den anden søn af Antonie, søger forgæves at knytte hende fast til sig. Først da hun møder færøske Jógvan, må hun overgive sig til kærligheden, der for hende vil betyde en forankring. Til ham og til Færøerne, som han ikke agter at forlade. Den egensindige Dina og den jordbundne Jógvan har deres kampe, der holdes nogenlunde i ave af hans livsklogskab og humor. Handlingen udspiller sig i Danmark, Italien, Berlin og på Færøerne.

The excavations of Gebel Adda (Lower Nubia) by the American Research Center in Egypt’s Nubian Expedition (1962-1966, directed by Nicholas B. Millet) yielded large quantities of objects, including an impressive collection of leatherwork. The finds, which show a remarkable degree of preservation, date from the Meroitic Period (about AD 100-400) through the Christian (AD 641-1400) and Islamic Periods (AD 1400), and were mainly recovered from tombs.The large variety of leather objects, currently housed in the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, clearly indicates the high degree of the leatherwork technology of the Nubian people. Among the objects are the famous (post-)Merotic quivers, scabbards, and wrist guards. The present work – the first of two volumes on the leatherwork – however, presents only the footwear (sandals and shoes). It includes detailed descriptions, accompanied by colour photographs and, where necessary, drawings. The preliminary analysis, in which the Gebel Adda material is comprehensively compared with the finds from other sites, discusses topics such as typological development, diachronic change, and geographical variations.
