Iorwerth C. Peate's outstanding achievement was to create a National Folk Museum at St. Fagans. It was Peate who dreamt of an open-air museum in Wales on the Scandinavian model where the visitor could view the way of life of past ages. It was he, too, more than anyone else, who strove to see the dream realized and to establish the study of folk life as a respected academic discipline in Britain. The story of these accomplishments, and of the opposition Peate encountered--within the National Museum of Wales, for example--is lucidly outlined by Catrin Stevens. She also presents a clear and useful appraisal of Peate's academic writing in the field of folk studies.

The first-ever picture book from Adam Kay and Henry Paker. This is the hilarious (and admittedly a tiny bit gross) tale of Amy, a small piece of sweetcorn who is eaten by Noah, a medium-sized boy. The story follows Amy on her funny, gooey and anatomically-accurate adventure through the human body as she discovers lots of facts about digestion.

Catrin Osborne: A Portrait of the Menopause
A Portrait of the Menopause presents a collection of photographs of women who are experiencing or have experienced the menopause, along with their related stories, insights and recollections. In doing so, it aims to dispel the misconceptions and stigma that surround this significant but rarely discussed chapter in a woman's life. Inspired by the difficult experiences of the book's creator, Catrin Osborne, and her desire to connect and share with others, the publication was born out of Osbourne's initial efforts to research and explore the subject with others and the subsequent touring exhibition of her photography. The book addresses the question "what does the menopause look like?" with a series of 80 photographic portraits and accompanying interviews from as wide a cross section of participants as possible. Each subject was photographed in their "happy place" and asked to talk about the positives and negatives of their menopause experience - a journey that has, for so long, been hidden and deemed shameful by many - in the hope of cultivating a greater understanding of what others face or have already been through.

Catrin Huber (*1968) works with architectural, fictional and imagined spaces as well as with site-responsive practices. Fascinated by ancient Roman wall painting, she developed site-specific installations in a topical dialogue with two Roman houses at the world-heritage sites of Herculaneum and Pompeii. This intricately designed book presents Huber's versatile spatial interventions, discusses the complex relation between her installations and their respective archaeological settings (local/temporal), and re-evaluates the daring concept of a historiographic turn within the arts. Text in English, German and Italian.

Don Catrín de la Fachenda is a picaresque novel by the Mexican writer José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi (1776-1827), best known as the author of El periquillo sarniento (The Itching Parrot), often called the first Latin American novel. Don Catrín is three things at once: a rakish pícaro in the tradition of the picaresque; a catrín, a dandy or fop; and a criollo, a person born in the New World and belonging to the same dominant class as their Spanish-born parents but relegated to a secondary status. The novel interrogates then current ideas about the supposed innateness of race and caste and plays with other aspects of the self considered more extrinsic, such as appearance and social disguise. While not directly mentioning the Mexican wars of independence, Don Catrín offers a vivid representation of the political and social frictions that burst into violence around 1810 and gave birth to the independent countries of Latin America.
