From the coauthor of One Shot - One Kill comes this compelling and nerve-racking look into the lives of police snipers as they squint through rifle scopes directly into the eyes of frantic captors. When a desperate criminal takes innocent hostages, police SWAT teams must walk a tightrope of fear on their mission to seize the threat. But as patience, negotiations, and prayer often fall in the face of an irrational killer, the deadly cool of the sniper must come in to put an end to the terror. America's elite corps of police sharpshooters has kept closed ranks until now. In Police Sniper, Craig Roberts has brilliantly captured the tension of duty on the front lines of today's urban hostage crisis. With gripping firsthand accounts of actual hostage sieges, readers will get a peak at the charged scenes of police stake out and get a taste of the steel nerves, razor-sharp focus, and pure adrenaline that police snipers must carry on their missions.

It's 1984, and the Soviet Union and Cuba have established a presence in Central America--primarily Nicaragua--and provide supplies to the communist government there with arms, ammunition, aircraft--and the dreaded Mi-24 helicopter gunship, NATO code-named "Hind". Little is known of this beast, so American Mercenary magazine offers a $1 million reward for anyone who can defect, or steal, and deliver one to a free world country for examination. Vietnam vet and former Cobra gunship pilot, now a police helicopter pilot Mark Ryan and his Special Forces vet buddy Todd Simmons decide to give it a try by infiltrating Nicaragua, locating a Hind, and stealing it

From World War II to present, there has been hidden within the highest levels of government secrets that you are not supposed to discover. During the period of 1940 to this day the power brokers, working from their positions of trust, have committed and then covered up the most heinous of crimes known to mankind. Investigative journalist Craig Roberts, author of "Kill Zone--a Sniper Looks at Dealey Plaza", now provides us with the results of his ten -year investigation regarding the secret crimes and coverups of the U.S. Government. You will read his case files on such subjects as the Japanese "Devil Unit 731" who experiments on American POWs in WWII with germ warfare weapons--and what happened when the war ended and the commanding officer was hired by the government instead of hanged for war crimes; Operation Paperclip in WWII when the U.S. brought Nazi scientists to America to work for us on our weapons programs instead of standing trial as war criminals; CIA and military mind control experiments on unsuspecting citizens--including children--without our knowledge; Secret drug and bacteriological weapons experiments on the American population; Atomic guinea pigs, Agent Orange, and the Gulf War Syndrome; what really happened to over 30,000 U.S. POWs after World War II, Korea and Vietnam; International assassinations, drug smuggling and money laundering; What the media did not tell you about the shoot down of TWA 800, the bombing of Pan AM 103, the Oklahoma City bombing, the crash of Arrow Air in Gander, Newfoundland, the derailment of the Sunset Limited in Arizona, the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, and much more....

The Passport in America

In today's world of constant identification checks, it's difficult to recall that there was ever a time when "proof of identity" was not a part of everyday life. And as anyone knows who has ever lost a passport, or let one expire on the eve of international travel, the passport has become an indispensable document. But how and why did this form of identification take on such a crucial role? In the first history of the passport in the United States, Craig Robertson offers an illuminating account of how this document, above all others, came to be considered a reliable answer to the question: who are you? Historically, the passport originated as an official letter of introduction addressed to foreign governments on behalf of American travelers, but as Robertson shows, it became entangled in contemporary negotiations over citizenship and other forms of identity documentation. Prior to World War I, passports were not required to cross American borders, and while some people struggled to understand how a passport could accurately identify a person, others took advantage of this new document to advance claims for citizenship. From the strategic use of passport applications by freed slaves and a campaign to allow married women to get passports in their maiden names, to the "passport nuisance" of the 1920s and the contested addition of photographs and other identification technologies on the passport, Robertson sheds new light on issues of individual and national identity in modern U.S. history. In this age of heightened security, especially at international borders, Robertson's The Passport in America provides anyone interested in questions of identification and surveillance with a richly detailed, and often surprising, history of this uniquely important document.
