In Plymouth and Northwestern Amador County mother and daughter authors Deborah Coleen Cook and Amy Elizabeth Champ present a look into the chronological past of the region from the native Miwok people to the 21st century with photographs gleaned from local families and historic repositories. Situated near the Sierra Nevada foothills in the northwestern region of Amador County is the small town of Plymouth. This hamlet, and other surrounding towns such as Drytown, Fiddletown, and River Pines, have been home to farmers, ranchers, and merchants since the early days of the California Gold Rush. Plymouth, known to be the gateway to the world-famous Shenandoah Valley wine country, is a thriving community with a hometown feel. History lives here, from the aged buildings along Main Street to the ruins of the Plymouth-Consolidated Mine, one of the largest gold producers in California. Cook, a retired historic archaeologist and former Amador County archivist, spent much of her professional career studying the history of Amador County and is a former longtime resident of Plymouth. Champ has been a resident of Plymouth since obtaining her doctoral degree at the University of California at Davis. She currently teaches in Amador County.

Almost everyone will agree that what we say to others is important. We are reminded that the "power of the word is mightier than the sword." HOW we say it is just as important, if not more so. Arguments, disagreements, and stress in relationships are often caused by the language patterns we use rather than the actual meaning of the words themselves. This book "decodes" everyday speech patterns. We can determine the way we process information, how we communicate with others and, even more importantly, the patterns OTHERS use to gather information, process it, remember, and verbally communicate with us. When you understand and use their patterns, people will actually hear what you are saying. No guessing, no assuming, and no misunderstanding Take the mystery out of communicating with someone who never seems to be on the same "wave-length" as you. This is the core foundation to the coaching curriculum and certification that is endorsed by the Council of Families for Children. Note: This is a workbook designed to stand alone, organized and presented so that you can use it as a self-study guide. It is also the workbook used in the Council of Families Communication Course, "Eloquent Communication Quotient." Additionally, it is one of the workbooks used in the Council of Families coaching certification course. The PRACTICE exercises are to be completed, as they appear, BEFORE specific information on the language patterns for each category is given.

My way of explaining to my grandchildren about how they came into our family and why they lost a parent at the same time. It was my way of telling them how much they mean to this family and family is more than who you share a blood line with. I also wanted them to know that because someone(a parent) may leave their life, it does not mean that they no longer love them.

Whether trying to unite a personal or business relationship or praying that the entire civilization comes together harmoniously, you will find hope and inspiration in these stories. Just when you think you have a firm understanding of how to apply them to your life, that clarity can slip through your fingers, leaving you feeling more confused than before. Our goal was not to explain the laws but to help our move through the process of defining them for yourself.Read, think, do the exercises, and decide. We will guarantee you one thing: the have the choice to define the laws for yourself. They are not written in stone.
Organizational Psychologist Tasha Eurich describes concepts from her book Insight: The Surprising Truth About How Others See Us, How We See Ourselves, and Why the Answers Matter More Than We Think. Eurich explains how knowing who we are and how others see us can lead to feeling confident, happy, successful, and fulfilled. Although self-awareness is necessary for the renewal of oneself, Eurich described the results of her research, "Our data reveals that 95% of people believe they are self-aware, but the real number is 15%," she says. "That means, on a good day, about 80% of people are lying about themselves-to themselves." This 12th book of the series exists to help you increase your self-awareness that can lead to renewal.
