An inspirational collection of the world's most beautiful scenic runs, selected by the editors of cult independent running magazine Like the Wind. Trail running is as simple as it sounds: just put one foot in front of the other, somewhere unpaved and outdoors. The opportunities it presents are endless, with a wide variety of routes that stretch over mountains, forests and deserts, in hot climates and frigid ones, through some of the most wild and beautiful places on Earth. Targeted at both novice and experienced runners, this book presents the finest trail-running locations around the world. From the heights of the Alps to the snowy expanses of the Arctic to the jungles of Latin America and the outback Down Under, each destination is brought to life by a different trail runner, showcasing exactly what makes each location so spectacular, as well as providing practical information to keep you moving on the ground. Compiled by the editors of Like the Wind, the first independent running magazine, each run offers an unparalleled experience, while the foreword was written by renowned American ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes. Although the Hebrew Bible as a whole is centered on God and God's relations with Israel, the character of God appears in most biblical stories only indirectly. How are modern readers to make sense of this paradox? God as an Absent Character in Biblical Hebrew Narrative establishes a set of literary methods that both academic and non-academic readers can use to understand the character of God, who is the single most important character in Hebrew Bible narrative and, strangely, absent from the majority of it.

Written by a multi-disciplinary team of experts in neurobehaviour, this concise, well-illustrated book provides long-awaited normative data on clock drawing from ages 20 to 90 years. A practical guide to the quantitative assessment of clock drawing, it also takes a process-oriented approach to qualitative impairment. The authors discuss clock drawing as a neuropsychological test instrument and the rationale for selecting specific time settings, as well as the basis for using different clock conditions. The book contains numerous examples of clocks drawn by patients with cognitive impairment due to dementia, metabolic encephalopathy, traumatic brain injury, disconnection syndrome and focal brain lesions. Insight into changes in clock drawing ability that may represent the earliest markers of cognitive decline in dementia are also presented. This volume will be of interest to clinicians and researchers in neuropsychology, neurology, psychiatry, geriatric medicine, language therapy, and occupational therapy. It offers readers normative data on the clock drawing task, guidelines for administration and scoring, and a rich selection of clock drawings that illustrate the abnormalities commonly encountered in clinical practice and research.
Even though I love touring and singing and traveling around the world, I missed my parents and being with them and the Cole's at the beach house during the summer. Before I started singing, I would be with all of them at the beach house every summer. Even though my parents had gotten to come up here and spend time with the Cole's during the last three years, I hadn't. After all, I had been on tour However, that had all changed when I became a singer. On a different note, this summer is different. This summer, I get to actually spend time at the beach house with my parents and Cole's. I am truly excited about relaxing this summer and spending time with my family and best friends
Besides December, July is my other favorite month of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but it is the month where I get a month long vacation from Los Angeles and filming movies and my show. Don't get me wrong, I love my career, plethora of good friends, living with my favorite aunt, etc. However it is not the same as being home with my parents and best friends. Moving on, my favorite month has finally arrived Right now, as we speak, I am on a plane home to Dallas, Texas. Starting tonight, I will be here from now until Thursday, August 1st. Truth be told, I am excited about seeing everyone, and what this summer will have to offer

Bright paint, sequins, rhinestones, fabric, feathers – and time and again the artist himself in various roles: the material collages of painter Devan Shimoyama are midsummer night’s dreams of alternative masculinities. As a homosexual African-American, the artist has an intense connection to themes of the Black community and queer subculture. Shimoyama’s works are worlds of neon and glitter; Greek mythology and Black pop culture; spirituality and activism. This lavishly designed catalog is published to accompany the artis’'s first institutional solo exhibition in Europe. In addition to numerous illustrations, it includes essays by curator Amely Deiss and art critic Evan Moffitt, poetry by Alexis Pauline Gumbs, and an artist interview with author and journalist Adriano Sack.
Fade Cut esittelee Shimoyaman Parturi-sarjan teoksia, joissa taiteilija muuntaa hypermaskuliinisen afroamerikkalaisen parturiliikkeen kuvitteelliseksi queer-fantasiaksi. Yhdysvalloissa kiitosta saanut parturi-installaatio luo kuvitteellisen tilan, johon erilaiset ihmiset ovat tervetulleita ilmaisemaan itseään vapaasti. Shimoyaman taiteen teemoista keskustelevat kirjassa Serlachius-museoiden johtaja Pauli Sivonen, kokoelma- ja näyttelypäällikkö Laura Kuurne ja taiteilija itse.Devan Shimoyama (b. 1989) is an American artist who explores themes related to sexuality, race and gender. His carnivalesque art weaves together childhood experiences, queerness, mythology and art history. Shimoyama employs a playful technique and bold combinations of materials such as glitter, fabric and rhinestones, sometimes working on the scale of large installations.Fade Cut presents a selection of paintings from Shimoyama's Barbershop series, in which he transforms the hypermasculine African-American barbershop into a fictional site of queer fantasy. Highly praised in his native United States, the barbershop installation is an imaginary space where all kinds of people are welcome to express themselves freely. In this book, Shimoyama's themes are discussed by Pauli Sivonen, Director of the Serlachius Museums, Laura Kuurne, Head of Collections and Exhibitions, and the artist himself.
