Women are one of God's most beautiful, complex, and resilient creations. We are instinctive nurturers. We work through challenges with a smile on our face. We are the glue in our families, a safe haven for our friends, and a pillar in our communities. Very often, the expectations others have of us and the roles we play in their lives don't allow us the opportunity to breathe and take a close look at ourselves. We weather the storms of life and keep moving without ever stopping to assess the damage. This damage can negatively alter our decision-making, taint our hearts, cause bitterness, and even make us want to give up. WHAT? is every woman's opportunity to stop, breathe, assess, learn, and grow. Webbed with the life testimony of Author Doris Sanders, each chapter contains powerful and practical advice to help women develop the wisdom, heart, attitude, and tenacity of a Godly woman.

STORIES THAT INSPIREJeremiah 20:9 (NIV) But if I will not mention his word or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire shut up in my bones.I've Got to Write It's Like Fire Shut Up in My Bones is a compilation of smoldering, heartfelt stories of love, compassion, faith, hope, forgiveness, and amazement inspired and told by members of the Chosen Pen Writers Group. For many of our authors, this is their first published work. Yet, the passion and resolve in bringing to light a story that was burning on their hearts can be found on the printed pages inside.
Feminism with Men asserts that it is not necessary to experience the world as a woman in order to develop a feminist understanding or to hold a feminist vision for the future. Patriarchy harms both men and women, although in different ways, while feminism offers an ideology for creating a more meaningful and life-affirming way of being in the world. This book explores the ways men can examine and change their oppressive relationships with both men and women through discussions of the limits of gender exclusive movements, the role of homophobia in maintaining sexist structures, and the difficulty of establishing radical alliances across gender differences. There are no clear road maps for creating a feminist future, but the authors argue that feminism can only bring about the widespread social change it envisions if it embraces a full partnership with men.

Air Transport Auxiliary pilot Doris Johnson is sent on a solo trip, escorting a British general on a secret mission to Scotland, vital to the success of D-Day, the forthcoming invasion of Nazi-occupied France. Her natural inquisitiveness means her life is put in great danger and she'll need more than her superb flying skills to survive. Doris has to trust her own instincts, and those of the new friends she makes, so that everyone comes through their adventures in one piece. Not everything is as it seems, sometimes by design, as she faces whatever is thrown at her with a determined smile and the spirit to stand fast for what is good and right.

Policing Immigrants

The United States deported nearly two million illegal immigrants during the first five years of the Obama presidency—more than during any previous administration. President Obama stands accused by activists of being “deporter in chief.” Yet despite efforts to rebuild what many see as a broken system, the president has not yet been able to convince Congress to pass new immigration legislation, and his record remains rooted in a political landscape that was created long before his election. Deportation numbers have actually been on the rise since 1996, when two federal statutes sought to delegate a portion of the responsibilities for immigration enforcement to local authorities.Policing Immigrants traces the transition of immigration enforcement from a traditionally federal power exercised primarily near the US borders to a patchwork system of local policing that extends throughout the country’s interior. Since federal authorities set local law enforcement to the task of bringing suspected illegal immigrants to the federal government’s attention, local responses have varied. While some localities have resisted the work, others have aggressively sought out unauthorized immigrants, often seeking to further their own objectives by putting their own stamp on immigration policing. Tellingly, how a community responds can best be predicted not by conditions like crime rates or the state of the local economy but rather by the level of conservatism among local voters. What has resulted, the authors argue, is a system that is neither just nor effective—one that threatens the core crime-fighting mission of policing by promoting racial profiling, creating fear in immigrant communities, and undermining the critical community-based function of local policing.
