The story of "FRANCIENE", is one of so many facets and layers it is difficult to capture its depth in a few short paragraphs. The genre itself defies a label. This compelling story evolves into a cultural delight, opening up a world seldom seen by most folks, and the charm and mystery of this facet alone is a thrilling adventure. The girl whose name gives the title, will disarm and confound you, and demand that you keep your own counsel as to her true self, right to the explosive ending. She wants what she wants, this one, to degrees unimaginable, and the good and decent people caught up and swept along with her, are rapt and astounded just like you will be. This tale is as salty as the waters that bathe the mystical Island, sweet as the people who find love and friendship in the strangest places, and then must hang on for dear life, and yes, funny as the clashing and blending of lifestyles throughout the story. From the coast of Carolina, down to the Florida Everglades, "FRANCIENE", is all these things and more. This is truly a complete read, and the checklist you go through when choosing the book you want to open next, will be filled to running over, after you are finished reading all about "FRANCIENE". However, be forewarned, the story is as frightening as it is every other emotional experience. There are Spirits in here In addition to the unearthly beings, you will find many earthy, and hotly exciting, romantic interludes, each important to the story, and not at all gratuitous or shallow. There are Lovers in here as well. One word of advice... stay out of the last pages until the story leads you there in its own time. You wouldn't open a gift before your birthday, would you? Choose and enjoy this engrossing novel. The story was truly "told to my head", and as I wrote it, I knew even then, that you will love it as much as I do. Jan Robinson
Ugleslangen er et mystisk dyr som spiser alt han kom over når han blir sint. Ikke rart at dyrene i skogen er redde. Den slemme krokodillen foreslår å beskytte dyrene... Men kan de stole på han?
Francine Stevenson's chance encounter with a ten-year-old who shows up at her doorstep after her mother's sudden death spirals into an adventure for the ages Francine Stevenson gets more than she bargained for when she rescues ten-year-old Davie from a group of bullies clamoring to snatch his beloved iPad. From that day forward the puzzlingly direct boy continues to show up at her door until the two develop a unique understanding. Their Pixar movie nights and Davie's random Steve Jobs factoids slowly work to soothe the ache of her mother's recent passing. When Francine learns Davie is in foster care, she decides to introduce herself to his foster parents who she can't help but judge for allowing the kid to spend evenings with a literal stranger. To Francine's surprise Davie's foster mother is none other than Jeannette, her fiery high school crush. Their reintroduction forces Francine to face her severely single reality. And hearing her dreaded old nickname brings up long-buried issues she never dreamed of confronting. Tired of being used by the women she meets on dating apps, Francine grows closer to the very-married Jeanette, until all her other priorities begin to cloud over, and Davie is only on the periphery of her mind. After a consecutive string of bad choices, Francine is left wondering how to free herself from an incredibly hot but toxic entanglement, as she works to become the kind of person Davie can depend on. What follows is a tumultuous journey of self-discovery told by one of the zaniest voices in fiction. A tale of found family and hijinks, Francine's Spectacular Crash and Burn will wiggle deep into even the most resistant hearts.

"Budel's brilliant comic features pubescent girls in various states of undress as they discuss imperialism, economics, and constant war, among many other global-political topics germane to the 21st Century. . . . Maybe the quintessential comic of the two-thousand-and-teens." --John Porcellino, author of the Hospital SuiteWith its fascistic imagery, pubescent sexuality, raucous humor, and complex political allegory, the anonymously posted webcomic slechtemeisjes became an instant cult phenomenon, hailed as the "Greatest Comic of All Time" by Comic Book Resources. Now, one of the world's most enigmatic, controversial, and provocative webcomic creators, Michiel Budel, delivers his debut graphic novel, Francine.
