Someone once said, "Bad artists copy; great artists steal." The combination of art and theft might have inspired a different form of criminal activity: Money laundering through art galleries. Jack Tyrrell, former Green Beret and Deputy Marshal, is about to depart for a winter weekend with his fianc e when he crosses paths with a young woman―the general manager of an art gallery―fleeing for her life from two men with murderous intentions. Before Tyrrell can get a cappuccino, he's plunged into the world of international art dealing, money laundering, sex trafficking, and weapons sales. The plot twists and turns from Greenwich Village in New York City to Upper Grosvenor Street in London, leading to a confrontation with a homicidal, narcissistic billionaire. Geoff Loftus is the author, most recently, of Fracture of the Soul and Casual Slaughters. "Had Philip K. Dick channeled Charles Dickens, Jack Tyrrell is the character he would have created. A clever mix of A Christmas Carol and a stylish modern thriller, action-packed yet soulful, traditional yet highly original."Theodore George, author of, The Deadly Homecoming and Murders on the Square

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in May, a professional assassin targets a newlywed couple as they emerge from church. It's a perfect shooting solution, but Jack Tyrrell, former Green Beret and U.S. Marshal, happens to stroll by just as the shooter prepares to fire. Tyrrell saves the bride and groom, but the assassin escapes to resume his serial killings of newlyweds. Why would a professional hitman target couples as they exit their wedding ceremonies? And why, six years earlier, was his first-known target Tyrrell's wife Maggie? Was she part of the serial murders? Tyrrell, with the help of his guardian angel, Harry Mitchum, will do whatever he has to do to catch his wife's killer. Even if it's the last thing he ever does. "If Dostoyevsky had created an action hero, that hero would be Jack Tyrrell. He's a good man who did a horrible thing and suffers the consequences for years afterward. Tyrrell's conscience not only never leaves him, it drags him down - he can rationalize his past behavior, but he can't forgive himself for what he did. In The Last Thing, Geoff Loftus has mixed Crime and Punishment with a blam-blam action protagonist, and the result is another soulful, action-packed story in the Tyrrell series." - Theodore George, author of The Deadly Homecoming and The Murders on the Square

Few modern British sportsmen have fascinated the public more than Geoff Boycott. In this first comprehensive and balanced account of Boycott’s life – fully updated to include his battle against cancer – award-winning author Leo McKinstry lifts the lid on one of cricket’s great enigmatic characters. A record-breaking Test cricketer and acerbic commentator, Geoff Boycott has never been far away from controversy during his long career in the game. Based on meticulous research and interviews with a host of players, Test captains, officials, broadcasters, friends and enemies, this definitive biography cuts through the Boycott myth to expose the truth about this charismatic, single-minded and often exasperating personality. What was Boycott like as a schoolboy? How did his England cricket colleagues such as Graham Gooch, Dennis Amiss and Brian Close feel about him as a person? Why was he so unpopular in his early career for Yorkshire? And what is the real truth about the relationships that soured his private world? From his upbringing as a miner’s son in a Yorkshire village, through highlights like his hundredth century at Headingley against Australia, to the low points such as the damaging court case in France, this warts-and-all account of his life makes for captivating reading.

Bristol Rovers’ most famous player is undoubtedly Geoff Bradford. He holds the club record for goals scored (242 in 461 Football League appearances) and remains the only player to win a Full England International cap while with the club. To research this book, the authors have been given access to an archive of information and original photographs from his family. Bristol-born Geoff was a loyal one-club man having turned down the option of a transfer to First Division Liverpool. He suffered two very severe career-threatening knee injuries and returned to play football for his club, who rewarded him with a Testimonial match at the end of his fifteenth season. Besides representing England, he also won other honours for Rovers winning the Third Division (South) Championship in 1952/53 and also played in many representative matches for the English Football Association including a six-week tour to the West Indies in 1955. There has never been a biography of Bradford, so this will be a welcome title for all dedicated Rovers fans.
