This title critically reviews old and new literature, help to create greater awareness of the disease in the US and helps in the evaluation of certain epidemiological and public health issues. During the first half of the 20th century, Chagas disease was assumed to be absent from the U.S. and considered an exotic disease, until the first two indigenous cases were discovered, almost simultaneously, in Texas, 1955. Since that time four indigenous cases have been documented in several places in the country. Although the disease is still considered uncommon in the US, this disease is not longer an exclusive Latin American illness. Physicians in the US are often unaware of the characteristics of the diseases, and are likely overlooking locally acquired cases. The influx of an estimated 300,000 Latin American immigrants with the Chagas parasite means that there is an urgent need for physicians and public health officials to become aware.

Bei der Behandlung von Mundh hlenkrebs treten verschiedene Schwierigkeiten auf, die den Patienten beeintr chtigen und seine famili re, soziale und berufliche Wiedereingliederung gef hrden. Auf diese Weise wurden neue therapeutische Alternativen mit der Verwendung von nat rlichen Produkten oder deren Zusammensetzungen durch experimentelle Modelle von Mundkrebs, wie sie in dieser Forschung entwickelt wurden, durchgef hrt. Diese Studie zur experimentellen oralen Karzinogenese unter Verwendung von DMBA erwies sich als wirksam bei der F rderung der Karzinogenese durch Induktion dysplastischer Ver nderungen in der Mundschleimhaut. In Anbetracht des Mangels an Forschungsergebnissen zu Naturprodukten wird jedoch auch vermutet, dass gr ne Propolis w hrend des Prozesses der chemisch induzierten Karzinogenese eine sch tzende Rolle spielt und dass dies in direktem Zusammenhang mit der erh hten Konzentration der ber die Magensonde verabreichten hydroalkoholischen Extrakte steht.

This book was developed from research conducted to show the chemopreventive potential of the extract of propolis varieties, produced by Apis mellifera bees, on the process of experimental oral carcinogenesis to promote the delay or inhibition of dysplastic phenotype formation in the epithelial stratum. Several difficulties are encountered in the treatment of oral cancer, because it causes disabilities to the patient, impairing his family, social and professional reintegration. Thus, new therapeutic alternatives with the use of natural products or their compositions have been carried out through experimental models of mouth cancer as it was developed in this research. Thus, the present study of experimental oral carcinogenesis using DMBA proved to be effective in promoting carcinogenesis by inducing dysplastic changes in the oral mucosa. However, given the scarcity of research on natural products, it is also suggested that green propolis plays a protective role during the process of chemically induced carcinogenesis and that this was directly related to the increased concentration of hydroalcoholic extracts administered by gavage.

Questo libro nasce da una ricerca condotta per dimostrare il potenziale chemiopreventivo dell'estratto di variet di propoli, prodotto dalle api Apis mellifera, sul processo di carcinogenesi orale sperimentale per promuovere il ritardo o l'inibizione della formazione del fenotipo displastico nello strato epiteliale. Diverse difficolt si riscontrano nel trattamento del carcinoma della bocca, perch causano incapacit al paziente, danneggiando il suo reinserimento familiare, sociale e professionale. In questo modo, nuove alternative terapeutiche con l'uso di prodotti naturali o loro composizioni sono state portate avanti attraverso modelli sperimentali di cancro della bocca, come stato sviluppato in questa ricerca. Pertanto, questo studio sulla carcinogenesi orale sperimentale con DMBA ha dimostrato di essere efficace nel promuovere la carcinogenesi inducendo cambiamenti displastici nella mucosa orale. Tuttavia, data la mancanza di ricerche sui prodotti naturali, si suggerisce anche che la propoli verde svolga un ruolo protettivo durante il processo di carcinogenesi indotta chimicamente e che ci sia direttamente correlato alla maggiore concentrazione di estratti idroalcolici somministrati per via gavage.

The symmetry phenomenon is related with DNA word composition analysis.
