A manufacturing company is downsizing and wants to know the impact on employee morale. A computer corporation is considering moving its headquarters and needs to determine how many employees intend to relocate. A multinational consulting firm has had a rash of sexual harassment complaints and seeks to determine the extent of the problem. To address these and other business-related issues, organizations are increasingly turning to surveys. Surveys are popular in organizations because--when done properly--they can provide accurate information about major organizational challenges, especially as the technology of surveys rapidly advances. Taking these issues into consideration, How to Conduct Organizational Surveys offers a practical, step-by-step guide. Anyone trying to make the transition from theory to practice will benefit greatly from this how-to guide. How to Conduct Organizational Surveys is also written for researchers who need to fine-tune their surveying skills.

Dementia is a state that has implications for several groups. There are, first, those who wish to assess its nature and impact in an objective and scientific fashion, using tools of research to uncover dementia's causes, effects, and parameters. The result has been a rapidly expanding literature in diverse disciplines: physiology, chemistry, neurology, psychology, and sociology, among others. Second, there are those professionals and caregivers who work di rectly with patients and other caregivers and who must assess and apply interventions. Third, physicians are involved in diagnosis and treatment (so far as possible) and are responsible for communicating the ominous meanings of the destructive disease process. Fourth, there are the caregivers, who accept accountability for the future of a human who increasingly shows a "robbing of the mind" in his or her behaviors. The needs and stresses of those who care for and about those with progressive dementia are among the most intense imaginable. They need support of many kinds, frequently without knowing what to ask or of whom to ask it. Finally, there are the patients, who increasingly become dependent as their mental competencies decline. They need empathic care-including answers to questions about cause, stabilization, or reversal of the de menting process. Even more, they need cure. Further, present and future generations need the assurance of prevention. This volume surveys present "knowledge" about dementia and its consequences.

Jack the Ripper's Black Magic Rituals

Jack the Ripper's Black Magic Rituals

For more than a century, the horrific mystery of Jack the Ripper has endured. The crimes of one of the world's most notorious serial killers have gone down in history as some of the most appalling acts one man could ever inflict upon other human beings; and since they were committed, sleuths have made many attempts to identify the man behind the myth. However, nobody has yet revealed the true identity of the murderer to the satisfaction of "ripperologists" everywhere. This book aims to reveal the identity of Jack the Ripper. It takes the reader, step-by-step, through the events at the core of the Ripper's "reign of terror", and uncovers a twisted melange of murder and black magic. The author argues that the man behind these crimes was Dr Robert Donston Stephenson, an army surgeon, occultist and magician with an astonishingly high IQ. He suggests that Stephenson may even have viciously murdered and dismembered his own wife before the killing spree in Whitechapel started.

The definitive identity of the world's most notorious serial killer is finally revealed. In this latest edition of Naming Jack the Ripper, three brand-new chapters detail Ripperologist Russell Edwards' ongoing work since 2014 and how he has solved - for the first time ever - many of the long-unanswered mysteries regarding the how and why of the killings, the Goulston Street Graffito . . . and why the real killer was not charged in 1888.All the experts agreed: we would never know the true identity of the world's most famous serial killer. It has taken 136 years of theorizing and speculation, plus the determination of Russell Edwards, a twenty-first-century businessman fascinated by the nineteenth-century social history of London's East End, to finally solve the mystery of Jack the Ripper. In February 2014, Russell received stunning DNA results and revealed the true identity and name of Jack the Ripper. In the decade since, he has continued his quest to prove the identity of the Ripper beyond the shadow of a doubt. The key to the solution lay in the sole piece of physical evidence to have survived from the murders of five Whitechapel women by the Ripper in 1888. In the early morning of Sunday, 30th September 1888, a shawl lay bloodied alongside the body of the Ripper's fourth victim, Catherine Eddowes. A Metropolitan Police officer, PC Amos Simpson, was attending the crime scene as an acting sergeant and was permitted to take the shawl away. It remained in his family until the author bought it in 2007, following a public auction. But could the shawl's provenance be proved? Russell set about authenticating the shawl by commissioning scientists at Liverpool John Moores University, led by Dr Jari Louhelainen, to use modern forensic techniques to analyze DNA extracted from stains on the shawl - DNA from both Catherine Eddowes and her suspected killer. In this book, Russell examines the police reports, eyewitness accounts, post-mortems, and all known information on the lives of the victims, in his search for vital clues. With the help of modern forensic techniques, Russell's ground-breaking discoveries provide conclusive answers to many of the most challenging mysteries surrounding the case.

Cream could have settled being a respected surgeon, but there was something about taking a human life that he just could not resist. In this book, we'll take you on the trail of this doctor turned madman--from his first murders to his ultimate capture and trial.

A new paperback edition of a classic book by Harry Edwards, the renowned healer, on the phenomenal physical mediumship of the ex-miner Jack Webber, first printed in 1940. This account covers the 14 months before Webber's untimely death in March 1940 before the book came to print. Newspaper journalists from daily papers were invited to sit and they published detailed and "laudatory" articles and all "testified to their amazement" at what they witnessed. This included table levitation, cone shaped "trumpets" flying rapidly through the air and voices speaking to them through them. Some saw faces they recognised in the ectoplasm which came from the medium. The outstanding photographs, many taken in the darkness via Infra-red by professional photographer Leon Isaacs, provide us with an unparalleled record of what the spirit world can achieve with dedication.
