PAVED ROADS is a book of poetry, mainly focused on social issues of today as a spiritual, historical, philosophical critique using common-sense rhythms and schemes that are both, down-to-earth and provocative. It is written in today's language with the threat of challenging normal speech, which is easy to understand while complex and layered for multiple tastes and preferences. This book introduces new concepts on old perceptions.

"Black Cat" could be determined as a jazz phrase speaking about a Black male. Here, in my book I associate the creature, a black cat with a tainted depiction and unlucky properties. However, Black Cat does describe a seemingly innate or natural tendency to single out the Black male as being different from his white counterpart. Thus particular circumstances in recent years, where there is a large number of incidences that involve the murders, at the hands of the police of Black men all across the country. Likewise, the massive incarceration of Black males is taken into consideration. It might seem that Black men just have been that more than "unlucky!" Although, historically, we can see a steady trend of these misdoing as patterns as far as the first involvement of Black peoples encountering Western man, I deem treatment of the "Black Cat" throughout the existence of Western Culture is symbolic of the proverbial "Great Elephant in the room."
After the Love (O.L.D. & M.A.T.U.R.E.)
After the Love is the ultimate freedom and reflection, once age and experience have become our memories. Hope is not what we await, but what we finally can give. Sometimes we are left with our age and experience as indicators of our success in life. Although even we realize that it is much more. It is also how well we have lived not just in the eyes of others, but also our self-respect, love, and understanding of what is important. If we lose these, then, what do we really have but empty dreams and empty time spent? Finding one's self is not a product of age or time. But, learning to love and accept ourselves can be. Every day we learn that we cannot deceive our self until we must face our truth. You need no mirror nor any outside help. You will only have you. This poetry is written in various styles and on different subjects. It is inspired writing on spirituality, religion, history, love, romance, and social commentary.

Moved is about motivation - the will to continue because one desires more than just being at the average. As members of groups, one can disappear behind the scenes. Most of us are told how far we will go and where we measure up To be moved is to have your own insight, regardless of the standard or status quo that exists. With creative thought, inspiration is everywhere and no one owns it. Being moved is not a group activity; but, it is reserved for the individual So Be Moved
Redefining Justice: The Art of Listening
A collection of poetry written with thought-provoking enthusiasm. It continues like some of my other poetry books with spiritual themes. There are also romantic poems and other conversations concerning life today, i.e. politics, money, gender bias, race, and social media. Over the past two years, I have put together these words as I observed changes in our country that I have never seen in my 64 years. It is not unusual, but more revealing than ever. I believe we should take careful note, seeing it as it is and not as a new trend. History repeats and the old become the new, while few patterns change! There is a need for a different thinking and a renewed value system that works for all!

"T.H.E. Light Blue Songbook" by Jeffrey V. Perry The Light Blue Songbook is a collection of poems of the heart, the soul, and the spirit. It is focused on the Black male point of view, showing some of our very sensitive sides. In a world where we are looked upon as those to be feared; or viewed in the "thug" or "gangster" persona, we also keep it very real. We have a deep admiration of our Black female counterparts, as well; and we are deeply rooted in a love of God. We are intellectuals and scholars of the known world; particularly, the world in which we live. Just Saying...

This is a collection of poems by Jeffrey V. Perry, who has been writing since the tender age of seven. As a gifted young writer, he was betrayed by his own meager circumstances and the misfortunes of being young and naive. Now that he is older, he has begun to produce recent works to help complete him and his true calling. A summon is Strumpet, but also, a warning signal that must be heeded. In our times there are too many reasons for us not to stop and take notice. Too much is written on our walls and there is too much living in our streets, not to question our own lives. It is so much easier for us to just look the other way or to go for self-satisfaction than to do what we know to be best. Since we do not change, nothing gets better. In the end, we are responsible for ourselves, and we are the ones who are going to have to pay one way or another. While our truths are relative, there is an ultimate truth somewhere in this world; found only if we are brave enough to accept it.

"Child of God," is a phrase referred auspiciously to those seen as special in relationship with the spiritual realm, without any prior understanding or reasoning outside of this assumption. It is also left to those called, thusly, to address this call one way or another. To learn and to know one's self is immeasurable, in the least. To finally come to this conclusion in one's relationship with God, the Creator could be just the growth of a child into full adulthood. Peace is with you.

ONLY SAY THAT WE ARE "HUMAN!" This was the first false hood perpetrated upon us by this world that WE WERE LESS THAN HUMAN. We must re-define our culture, our race, and our attributes, but, even we have to stop determining ourselves in an overstated vernacular that only helps to compensate for any so-called deficiency. Now we assume our humanity. It is a humbling position for a human being to admit to.

As the bell tolls sounding the clocks of time, We tell some things wrong, while some truths we find. How much time will be time that is enough? How much time until we find the right stuff? What do clocks measure? Would time not still pass? If we do nothing, only sit steadfast? So, what makes time and the clock so crucial? I foolishly ask if the clocks are useful.

"But wow, what a time we had. Are you going to tell him that was just ordinary scaffolding and not sixty million in hi-tech gear?" "No. And don't you don't tell him either." She smiled. Birds of Aruba, Bonaire, and CuraÇao is the essential guide for anyone traveling to those islands. It showcases the more than 280 species seen on Aruba, Bonaire, and CuraÇao and provides descriptions of and directions to the best places to bird, from the famous white sand beaches to hidden watering holes to the majestic national parks. Aruba, Bonaire, and CuraÇao-the "ABCs"-located in the southwestern Caribbean, not far from Venezuela, share fascinating ecological features with the West Indies as well as the South American mainland, making birding on the islands unique. The identification portion of the book features endemic subspecies such as the Brown-throated Parakeet; a wide variety of wintering North American migrants; spectacular restricted-range northern South American species such as the Yellow-shouldered Parrot, Bare-eyed Pigeon, Troupial, Ruby-topaz Hummingbird, and Yellow Oriole; and West Indian species including the Pearly-eyed Thrasher and Caribbean Elaenia. Colorful introductory sections provide readers with a brief natural history of the islands, detailing the geography, geology, and general ecology of each. In the site guide that follows, Jeffrey V. Wells and Allison Childs Wells share their more than two decades of experience in the region, providing directions to the best birding spots. Clear, easy-to-read maps accompany each site description, along with notes about the species that birders are likely to find. The identification section is arranged in classic field guide format and offers vivid descriptions of each bird, along with tips on how to identify them by sight and sound. The accounts also include current status and seasonality, if relevant, and common names in English, Dutch, and Papiamento, often inspired by the unique voices of the birds, such as the "chibichibi" (Bananaquit) and "choco" (Burrowing Owl). The accompanying color plates feature the beautiful work of illustrator Robert Dean. The final section, on conservation, raises awareness about threats facing the birds and the habitats on which they rely and summarizes conservation initiatives and needs, offering recommendations for each island.

The Life of Men: Love, Sex, Myth, Medicine... and Political Correctness

Dr. Jeff Rabuffo didn't set out to redefine the role of men in 21st Century America; he simply wanted to explore the world of boys, men and sages (us old guys). After more than four decades as a urologist and State Police physician he explains, "I have a story to tell about men, about all the stuff we do, about all the stuff that happens to us; how we cope with hardships, how we support our families and our nation; how we overcome obstacles, provide and protect." "I want to tell the story of who we are, and why we are the way we are. Men are composites of all their chemistry, their upbringing and their experiences. Men are good, wholesome people to be respected. Their humanity is being denied." "The superficiality of behavior can be modified. Men can be taught more manners-to be more polite, more civil, more passive; but you can't change who we are. You can't change our genetics, our physiology. Biology shapes us, shapes how we see the world, how we act and react. Our brains are different than the brains of women. What needs to be changed is the movement that is trying to change us."
