Mariah Marten suffered through a girl's worst nightmare. With the help of her twin and two older sisters, Mariah survived but was never able to forgive and forget. A chance for both came with a job opportunity and a move from her hometown. It was a chance to start over with new people and surroundings. Followed by her sisters, they all got a chance to heal, forget, and live a life of adventure, romance, hardship, and the unexpected.
This autobiography follows Joyce Callahan Clark, who, in 1940, was born in a boxcar her family called home in rural Arkansas. She grew up working alongside her family in the cotton fields, moving from home to home seeking field work, and attending small schools. She married the love of her life, Clinton Clark, in 1956 and their shared goal of a successful life led them to a farm in LaCygne, Kansas, where they settled and raised their family. You will enjoy Joyce and Clint's personal stories of hard work, persistence, and love through 61 years of marriage in this book written by Joyce Clark and edited by her granddaughter, Julie Burk.
Secrets can hurt . . .Bitter and resigned to a life alone, Quinlan Kinncaid swore he'd never marry-until the eccentric Ella Ferguson barged headlong into his life. But before he can trust his own feelings and build a new life with Ella, she's gone, and he's left with a secret so big he can't even bear to tell his own family. Some secrets can destroy . . .Ella Ferguson is as independent as she is beautiful, and though she knows rich boys never last in the long run, she doesn't see the harm in a fling with Quinlan. After their amorous weekend threatens to become a lifelong commitment, she runs, figuring it's better to put Quin and her past behind her. Then Ella discovers a secret of her own, and telling Quin may rip both their worlds apart. And some secrets can kill . . .What neither of them realizes is that a malevolent man knows Ella's secret, and he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants. Afraid for her life and more alone than ever, Ella must learn to forgive herself before she can beg the forgiveness of the one man who can save her. Now it's up to Quinlan to overcome his stubborn pride in time to save Ella and the only thing that matters.

Clark and Bellous provide a theoretical landscape for spiritual care practitioners. The book includes perspectives on human spirituality, worldview development, the concept of faith and an approach to encountering otherness that allows practitioners to come alongside people through the complex competency of thick listening at thin moments. Coming alongside is possible due to embodied social engagement that every person can rely on for connecting well with others. Throughout the book, they urge readers to reflect intentionally and mindfully on personal and social implications of caring for the human spirit. While the book focuses on theory, it is rich with scenarios that demonstrate ideas conveyed in each chapter. Its theoretical groundwork is balanced by comprehensive descriptions of clinical implications for spiritual care practice based on theories presented throughout its pages. It will be a welcome manual for chaplains, pastors and spiritual caregivers in any context.
