The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. Gospel Books and Early Latin Manuscripts
Gospel books are the most numerous and important of surviving early medieval Latin manuscripts, and these essays represent stages in an examination of their structure, arrangement, contents, and texts. New details and aspects of the books, links between Gospel texts of different regions and scriptoria, and much new information has been uncovered, starting with the preliminary survey of 1949, and including now classic studies of the Irish pocket Gospel book, and of the Book of Kells. The chronological scope also includes Anglo-Saxon Gospels of the 10th and 11th centuries, and the only survey of these books, hitherto accessible in an expensive facsimile edition, is made available here. The subject matter of these essays has been widened by including a preliminary examination of citation marks in early Latin manuscripts, and a review of the oldest Biblical manuscripts.

The Lost Books of the Bible

The Lost Books of the Bible

The books of the Apocrypha were part of the Bible until the late 1800's and their true place in scripture is not only virtually unknown to the entire Christian world, but an intellectual and spiritual subterfuge. One of the best kept theological secrets is that the Bible used by the modern Protestant Church is not the original King James Bible, only half of the original Books of the Apocrypha are in the Catholic Bible, and the Apocrypha fills a 400 year chronological gap missing from that Bible. The Real Apocrypha reveals the true history of those books and their presence throughout the historical record of the Christian church, and includes the text of those books, in their entirety. The missing translator's documents, originally in the King James Bible, and an extensive comparison of the Apocryphal books to the current scriptures in the Bible are also included.

This book provides a peek into my life, as I've journeyed through the many different universes provided by the books I've read throughout my life (The cutoff date for this edition was the last day of 2018). It's like a history-themed guided tour of my life, but viewed through the titles of the books I was reading at the time. Not just the "good" parts of my life are showcased, I also included: the troublesome, the depressing, the fun, the evil parts of my nature; and, for good measure, a rant (or two; or possibly three). Nor is this meant to be a full autobiography. You will find many opinions in this book and if you are easily offended, you may get triggered at some point while reading my story. This book most certainly contains profanity. Most of the 4-letter words contained in my book were lovingly taught to me by my Great-grandmother.

A Social History of Books and Libraries from Cuneiform to Bytes
While the importance of writing has often been recognized, the role of books and especially that of libraries has just as often been slighted. Knowledge, once generated, has to be communicated, preserved, and accessible. Books in their varying formats—from clay tablets to scrolls and manuscripts to pixels—have been instrumental in spreading knowledge, although relatively little attention has been given to the story of books themselves. A Social History of Books and Libraries from Cuneiform to Bytes traces the roles of books and libraries throughout recorded history and explores their social and cultural importance within differing societies and changing times. It presents the history of books from clay tablets to e-books and the history of libraries, whether built of bricks or bytes. Following an introduction that sets the theoretical basis for the historical importance of books and libraries, chapters alternate between the history of the book and the history of libraries. Included within the chapters are short excursions on some particular development, such as book emblems or cataloging. Case studies are given as thematic illustrations of libraries everywhere. Patrick M. Valentine argues that social and cultural forces have been more influential in determining the nature and status of information, books, and libraries than has technology. But A Social History of Books and Libraries is far from a jeremiad against technology; rather it presents history within the subtle yet shifting context of time and place. Although written primarily for librarians and library students, it will also be of interest to a wider audience of scholars and those interested in books, libraries, and cultural history.

Several years have passed since Paul Clouse dealt with an enemy who turned his life upside-down. Now in complete control of the resort he once helped save from destruction, Clouse finds the memories too painful, and decides to sell the property. Once again, trouble brews in Orange County, where two famous hotels remain, forcing Clouse to confront enemies new and old alike. His previous brush with the supernatural pales in comparison to the new evil he confronts in his own backyard. Left with only a handful of friends and family from his younger days, he fights to keep them safe while struggling to learn the secrets his adversaries already know. Should he fail to protect the property where everything began, the result could be death and destruction the likes of which the world has never seen.
