Medieval Manuscripts from the Collection of T.R. Buchanan in the Bodleian Library, Oxford
This catalogue describes 24 manuscripts from the collection of Thomas Ryburn Buchanan presented to the Bodleian Library in 1939 and 1941, including illuminated manuscripts from before the mid-sixteenth century. The collection consists primarily of late medieval devotional books from France, the Netherlands and renaissance Italy. It includes "Books of Hours", half of which are French and date from the fifteenth or early sixteenth century, a Bridgettine Breviary, a Milanese Breviary, a ferial Psalter, a Psalter of c 1300 and three Italian humanistic texts. A notable feature of the collection is the number of manuscripts with early and fine bindings. The illustrated catalogue gives detailed descriptions of the manuscripts - their texts, illumination, and codicological characteristics (including bindings).
The McCarthy Collection, Volume II
This handsome catalogue is the second of a three-volume set exploring the McCarthy collection, arguably the largest and most important private collection of illuminated cuttings, miniatures, and leaves in the world. Volume I (published 2018) presented Italian and Byzantine entries; Volume III (forthcoming 2020) will be devoted to French entries. The present volume is dedicated to the holdings of single leaves and cuttings from Spanish, English, Flemish and Central European manuscripts from the 12th to late 15th centuries. Richly detailed with plentiful illustrations, it is a notable contribution to medieval scholarship.
The McCarthy Collection, Volume III
This substantial catalogue is the final of a three-volume set exploring a remarkable collection of leaves and miniatures from medieval manuscripts. Richly detailed with plentiful illustrations, this notable contribution to medieval scholarship describes French material from c. 1100 to the 15th century, with particular strength in the 13th and 14th centuries. The McCarthy collection is arguably the largest and most important private collection of illuminated cuttings, miniatures, and leaves in the world. Following the publication in 2018 of Italian and Byzantine Miniatures and in 2019 Spanish, English, Flemish and Central European Miniatures, the third volume covers illumination from France.Volume I (published 2018) has eighty Italian and eight Byzantine entries; Volume II (published 2019) is the smallest, with sixty-three entries, divided between eight Spanish (and perhaps Portuguese) entries, eleven English ones, ten from the southern Netherlands, and finally thirty-four from across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Bohemia; the present volume is the largest, with approximately ninety-five French entries. The fact that the French material is the largest group overall is partly a reflection of Robert McCarthy’s early interest in French Gothic art, inspired by youthful visits to Chartres and other Gothic cathedrals. In many cases the recto and verso of each item is reproduced, as the verso often provides vital textual, palaeographical or art historical clues to the date and place of origin, or traces of a later provenance and lists parent volumes, sister leaves and cuttings, some of which are also reproduced.
Powerfully Simple Meetings: Your Guide for Fewer, Faster, More Focused Meetings
For most of our early careers, the cofounders of MeetingResult were stuck in conference rooms just like yours. We sat through unproductive, unplanned, unstandardized and over-attended meetings that drove ambiguous outcomes while consuming a lot of our "real work" time. We saw action items, decisions and ideas spark to life only to fade from a lack of meeting follow-up and accountability. And we naively accepted the status quo of meeting performance believing "that's just the way it is."However, as we grew in our careers as leaders and project management professionals, we realized a desperate need to change the status quo of our own meetings. Like a saw to a carpenter, great business meetings are an essential tool that project managers use to deliver successful projects. We witnessed our share of failed projects and we knew if we didn't sharpen our tools and techniques, our projects would follow the common path of failure (that is, over budget, behind schedule, missed objectives). We started by developing a meeting process that optimized our project performance. We were focused on bringing the highest level of clarity, accountability and effectiveness to our own meetings. We did extensive research, modeled the best meeting leaders and continued to improve our process through trial and error. We extensively studied what works (and what doesn't) and we applied these principles firsthand to deliver results in conference rooms and boardrooms just like yours. We received recognition and promotions largely in part to our ability to run great business meetings. After decades of experience managing literally thousands of meetings, we decided it was time to share this knowledge that revolutionized our professional lives. We packaged our meeting process into a powerfully simple meeting (PSM) system that will enable you and your organization to conduct fewer, faster, more-focused meetings.Whether in a project, sales or operations environment, it gives us great satisfaction to see leaders implement our meeting process and reap the benefits that virtually anyone can achieve if they consistently follow the principles and processes described in this book.

While Unix and Linux are slowly catching up to the more graphical Windows and Mac OS X windowing systems, the real power of Unix-like systems lie at the shell command-line. From the shell, you manage files, run commands, and maintain your system, often combining small tools in any number of ways to form ad hoc yet nonetheless complex data processors. To master Unix and Linux, you must master the command line. From Bash to Z Shell: Conquering the Command Line is a comprehensive, hands-on guide to the subtleties and power of the shell, focusing on two of the most recent Bourne shell variants, Bash and Zsh. Novices can learn the 'Unix way,' while power users can learn why and how to switch to Zsh, one of the most powerful and versatile shells ever written. In between, users of all levels of skill can find hints, recipes, and suggestions to enhance and improve their skills. Ur innehållet: Introduction: Introduction to shells; Using shell features together; More shell features.- Customizing bash and zsh: Starting shells and shell windows; The command line and editing; Shell history; File and directory management; Using patterns to match files and other things; Shell variables; The shell's Input/Output mechanisms; Processes and terminals; Using the completion system.- Customizing bash and zsh: A closer look at shell syntax; Shell functions and scripts; Extending the zsh editor with functions; Extending bash and zsh completion systems.

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, has been one of the two or three most influential books in the Chinese canon. It has been used by people on all levels of society, both as a method of divination and as a source of essential ideas about the nature of heaven, earth, and humankind. During the eleventh and twelfth centuries, Sung dynasty literati turned to it for guidance in their fundamental reworking of the classical traditions. This book explores how four leading thinkers--Su Shih, Shao Yung, Ch'eng I, and Chu Hsi--applied the I Ching to these projects. These four men used the Book of Changes in strikingly different ways. Yet each claimed to find in it a sure foundation for human values. Their work established not only new meanings for the text but also new models for governance and moral philosophy that would be debated throughout the next thousand years of Chinese intellectual history. By focusing on their uses of the I Ching, this study casts a unique light on the complex continuity-within-change and rich diversity of Sung culture. Originally published in 1990. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Saint Peter was a crucial figure in early Christianity; as one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, he oversaw the formal establishment of the early church and became the first Bishop of Rome. Peter's formative years were spent as a fisherman. It was here that the purpose of his disciple status was unveiled: Peter was to become a 'fisher of men'; helping others believe in the Lord. These and other events are told in this biography, which investigates the ways in which Peter sought to enlighten and catch souls of men, that they be set on a righteous path to God and the Holy Spirit. Peter's humble beginnings soon transform through his pursuit of God; he accompanies Jesus as one of his twelve apostles, and is listed foremost among them in all sources. His spiritual guidance and devotion to the mission of Christ has great bearing on the foundation of the Christian church; Peter also witnessed the Resurrection of Jesus first-hand, and delivered some of the first sermons following this revelatory event.

This book critically examines all the early and important Petrine pseudepigrapha to identify a distinctive Petrine theology which, it is believed, was later swamped by the tide of western orthodoxy. Despite the diversity of the books and tractates, ranging from Jewish-Christian writings to avowedly Gnostic works, a remarkably consistent Petrine tradition does emerge; and Peter is shown essentially to be neither the impetuous, undiscerning, and even vacillating figure portrayed in the Gospels and Acts, nor the magisterial and pontifical figure of later Church tradition, but a visionary who was concerned above all to hold together both the moral and cognitive aspects of the Faith.

Peter Llewelyn Davies was just an infant in his pram when he served as the inspiration for J.M. Barrie's most famous creation, Peter Pan. With the story proving to be a smash hit, a reluctant Peter was thrust into the spotlight. But then one day, Peter did the unthinkable: He grew up. Based on a true story, Peter presents another side to one of the world's most beloved tales. As Peter enters adulthood, he struggles to separate himself from what he calls "that terrible masterpiece" and begins to spiral into a deep depression. Will he succeed in overcoming the demons of his past, or do happy endings only exist in fairy stories?
