Analyzes the nation's aeronautic testing needs and the effectiveness of and management issues for, NASA's major wind tunnel and test propulsion facilities in serving those needs. The National Aeronautics and Space Adrninistration's (NASA's) wind tunnel and propulsion test facilities continue to be important to U.S. competitiveness across the military, commercial, and space sectors. Unfortunately, managemen tissues are creating real risks to these facilities. NASA needs to develop an aeronautics test technology vision and plan; analyze the viability of a national test facility plan; identify and maintain its minimum set of facilities; and identify financial shared support to keep its underutilized but essential facilities from entering financial collapse.
Filling a void with his critical study of an important American humorist, Steven H. Gale has provided a comprehensive description of S.J. Perelman's prose, plays, and screenplays, along with a biographical portrait which emphasizes his connections to other writers of his time. The work is supplemented by a chronology of events, a bibliographic essay, and a general subject index.

"That night, I left school for the last time. I thought about all I achieved, but I never forgot my Collie family and all the dogs --- too many to count --- I left behind in the puppy mill and animal shelter. I barked and wished that they could all be adopted, and then, there would be no more homeless animals in shelters. And wouldn't that be wonderful?" S.J. Goes to School is the sequel to the true story of S.J., a rescued puppy mill collie and adopted shelter dog from the book that started it all --- S.J. Goes Home. S.J., the main character and narrator, tells his story of rescue, adoption, his schooling and achievements. His mom, realizing that he is an exceptionally smart dog with an "excellent memory," tells him, "S.J., it's time to go to school." She enrolls him in beginner, intermediate and advanced training classes where he meets fellow students, Frankie and Olee. S.J. excels in his classes and graduates with "Best in Class" honors on his three diplomas, then, prepares to take the "Therapy Dog Test." Children, parents, teachers and all readers cheer him during his final exam where he is "one cool collie" under pressure, aces the test and earns his fourth diploma to become a certified therapy dog. The book, beautifully illustrated in color by artist, Kerri Carabetta, captures the essence of S.J.'s temperament, intelligence, humility and education. After reading S.J. Goes to School, readers, like the author, will champion shelter pet adoptions. Children learn the responsibilities of pet ownership by providing training, care and love that give a dog a second chance at a forever home and a happy, fulfilling life...just like S.J., who is a testament to what shelter dogs can achieve when given that second chance.
Adam Gopnik presents the very best of S. J. Perelman, America's zaniest humorist. S. J. Perelman (1904-1979) wrote for the Marx Brothers films Horse Feathers and Monkey Business and won an Oscar for his screenwriting on Around the World in Eighty Days, but he remains best known for his many sketches and essays penned for The New Yorker during its golden age of humor. In these short comic pieces--Perelman called them feuilletons--his penchant for wordplay, witticism, spoofery, self-deprecation, and plain zaniness are on full display. The New York Times once noted his ability in these magazine pieces to transform the common clich or figure of speech into an exploding cigar. Author and New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik has selected the very best of them, including his parodies of books and films, his biting social satire, autobiographical pieces, and a selection from the celebrated Cloudland Revisited series, in which Perelman reminisces nostalgically about books and movies encountered in youth before describing in his inimitable hyperkinetic style the rude shock of revisiting them as an adult. Also included in this volume are the acclaimed play The Beauty Part (1963) from Perelman's Broadway career; profiles of the Marx Brothers, Dorothy Parker, and his brother-in-law Nathanael West; a selection of letters written to correspondents such as Groucho Marx and Paul Theroux; and a garland of Perelman's witticisms strung together by Adam Gopnik.

S.J. Chelvanayakam was one of the most prominent leaders of the Ceylon Tamils before and after the end of colonial rule, and in the early days of their struggle for political and economic equality. The author, who knew Chelvanayakam intimately, analyzes in this work his career and his symbiotic relationship with the Ceylon Tamils, which led eventually to the emergence and reinforcing of a defensive Ceylon Tamil nationalism. The work is based on personal papers, interviews with leading protagonists, parliamentary records and the English and Tamil press. It is also conceived by the author as a model for the study of ethno-nationalism, the politics of Gandhian protest and of crisis leadership in a multi-ethnic Third World state.
Satoja samanlaisia laivoja liikkui entisaikaan Suomen rannikoilla. Tänään m/s J.L. Runeberg on niistä viimeinen säännöllisessä liikenteessä oleva. Se on elävä museo, joka kertoo onnellisista kesämatkoista 100 vuoden ajalta. Ainutlaatuisella aluksella on mielenkiintoinen historia.
