L’archivio di Claudius Tiberianus da Karanis
Claudius Tiberianus represents a typical situation for the possibilities of Greco-Egyptians how to advance socially through the service in the Roman army and then how to obtain therefore the citizenship after having finished with the honesta missio. In the first place we see him as a speculator at the time of the rule of Trajan, later as a veteran: he had socially advanced and operated together with his companion veterans and also with the still serving soldiers in the navy and in the land army. His friends were for him economic and social partners, they had common affairs and common opinions. These documents open a view of the living in the country (Fayum and elsewhere) and in the city of Alexandria, which allow us to reconstruct a lot of private and public relations. Here even the nearly silent world of women informs us about economic and legal items. A very interesting tale concerns the murdering of a slave reported by the mother of the culprit. Another quite actual aspect of those days is represented by relations such as between patroni and their clientes. From a more technical point in the field of papyrological work it should be remembered that the results have been obtained through a continous interrogation of the archaeological background.
Manifesto of Artistic Research

Manifesto of Artistic Research

Since its beginnings in the 1990s, artistic research has become established as a new format in the areas of educational and institutional policy, aesthetics, and art theory. It has now diffused into almost all artistic fields, from installation to experimental formats to contemporary music, literature, dance, or performance art. But from its beginnings—under labels like “art and science” or “scienceart” or “artscience” that mention both disciplines in one breath—it has been in competition with academic research, without its own concept of research having been adequately clarified. This manifesto attempts to resolve the problem and to defend the term. Further, this manifesto defends the radical potential of artistic research against those who toy all too carefully with university formats, wishing to ally their work with scientific principles. Its aim is to emphasize the autonomy and particular intellectuality of artistic research, without seeking to justify its legitimacy or adopt alien standards.

Essay aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Familie, Frauen, M nner, Sexualit t, Geschlechter, Note: 1,0, Helmut-Schmidt-Universit t - Universit t der Bundeswehr Hamburg (Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Geschlechterwirklichkeiten, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Betrachtet man die bekannte Reeperbahn in Hamburg und deren Unterhaltungsm glichkeiten, so f llt eine Tatsache besonders ins Auge. Mehrere Lokalit ten bieten hier Travestieshows an.

In an extended interview in 1883 Silvia Dubois, then nearly 100 years old, told her life story to Dr Cornelius Wilson Larison. This volume is an edited and annotated edition of Larison's original text, written is his idiosyncratic phonetic spelling. How much of Silvia's life is history, and how much is folklore, we cannot be sure, but it remains a fascinating view of slave life and the life of the uneducated free black in the North during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
