C.R.A.F.T. Conversations for Teacher Growth

Conversations between administrators and teachers take place every day, for many reasons, but what can we do to elevate them so that they lead to better professional relationships, more effective school leaders and teachers, and improved learning for students? C.R.A.F.T. Conversations for Teacher Growth offers the answer, demonstrating how exchanges that are clear, realistic, appropriate, flexible, and timely can be transformational. The authors explain how C.R.A.F.T. conversations support leaders' efforts in four ""cornerstone"" areas: Building Capacity, Invoking Change, Promoting Collaboration, and Prioritizing Celebration. With this foundation in place, they offer explicit guidance for developing the skills necessary to move through all components of a C.R.A.F.T. conversation: planning, opening, engaging, closing, reflecting, and following up. Extended vignettes featuring administrators and teachers bring each component to life, illustrating how focused efforts on improving how we communicate and build relationships can help schools achieve their goals and become places where adults—and students—thrive.
Marine Corps B.R.A.T.: Threatening the Status Quo
Semper Fidelis.Always Faithful. This book contains some unpopular ideas. Each chapter presents an idea on a subject that you thought you had already wrapped your head around only to have the author challenge that understanding. The concepts and ideas are a little weird. If you choose to threaten the status quo that you have followed up until now, well, that will make you weird too. This is not the normal way, challenging mass beliefs goes against cultural wisdom, the status quo, our peers, and sometimes even our parents. It can be scary, hard, frustrating and emotional to challenge what you thought you believed. However, it is incredibly satisfying, peaceful and worth it to come to your own conclusions. Therefore, think outside the box, question everything, press on, OORAH Semper Fi.I'll be ever faithful to my calling.May you be ever faithful to yours.

It can and does happen: A chance encounter that leads to romance, love and fulfilment. Equally, such an encounter may lead to fear, sorrow and loss. Both are met in this tale that crosses national and social boundaries and within which unwarranted evil plays a far too real part.In all innocence the protagonists go about their daily lives occasionally taking in divergent activities out of curiosity or in the interest of learning more about life. Being caring and kind hearted both fail to understand why they are constantly warned about helping others. Ultimately, after numerous twists and turns, the truth behind these warnings becomes manifest with results never anticipated or expected.

This book offers readers an entirely original and unconventional view of quantum mechanics. It is a view that accepts quantum mechanics as the natural way to think about the way nature works, rather than the view commonly expressed, especially in books on quantum physics, that quantum theory is weird and counterintuitive. It is based on the concept of itemization. From this simple premise, quantities like energy and momentum, both linear and angular emerge naturally, as do configuration space, potentials, the electromagnetic field, many-body dynamics, special relativity and relativistic wave mechanics. The many-body dynamics, because it is not tied to physics from the outset, can be applied to population dynamics outside physics as well as the usual physical situations. From this emerges much of the basic physics that describes, mathematically, how the natural world behaves. This accessible introduction does not require exotic maths, and is aimed at inquisitive physics students and professionals who are interested in exploring unconventional approaches to physics. It may also be of interest to anyone studying quantum information theory or quantum computing.Key FeaturesProvides a unique, new approach to understanding quantum mechanics.Uses basic concepts and mathematical methods accessible at the undergraduate level.Presents applications outside physics, including a newly devised and original model of cell division that shows how cancer-cell population explosions occur."What [the author] has done is changed the way of thinking about how to organize the foundations of quantum mechanics and the approach is a very natural one. This is a book that has the potential to be quite an important one in how we understand the origins of the quantum theory. This is not an ordinary quantum textbook. It is not trying to teach the full curriculum. It is instead focused on showing the origins of quantum mechanics and how it fits into the relativistic and quantum field theory worlds. It is more in line with foundations of quantum mechanics books, but in my opinion, way better than the whole lot of the rest of them. There is no comparison."— Professor James Freericks, Georgetown University.

Comic drama Characters: 1 male, 6 female Unit set. Tood, Weetsie and Sybill are brides in rural Louisiana in 1943. Each married a Cliffert brother. The men are off to war and a local news story about these young wives keeping the home fires burning intrigues Henry Luce. He decides that they belong on the cover Life Magazine and assigns Kate Miller to the story. She has been covering the war in Europe and, though she views doing a "women's piece" as a career set back, she accepts because it will be her first cover story. Kate spends a week with the Cliffert women and her haughty urban attitude gives way to sympathy as she begins to understand them while coming face to face with her own powerlessness in a man's world. Filled with charm and fun, The Cover of Life is a deeply affecting story about the struggle for self worth. "The kind of roles actresses dream of. Robinson's writing has a warm, rural flavor and [the] conflicts are laced with a poignant urgency." Variety. "Vivid." Newark Star Ledger. "Stirring and funny." Teaneck Daily Record.

Qualitative Methods in Public Health: A Field Guide for Applied Research, 2nd Edition provides a practical orientation to conducting effective qualitative research in the public health sphere. With thorough examination and simple explanations, this book guides you through the logic and workflow of qualitative approaches, with step-by-step guidance on every phase of the research. Students learn how to identify and make use of theoretical frameworks to guide your study, design the study to answer specific questions, and achieve their research goals. Data collection, analysis, and interpretation are given close attention as the backbone of a successful study, and expert insight on reporting and dissemination helps you get your work noticed. This second edition features new examples from global health, including case studies specifically illustrating study design, web and mobile technologies, mixed methods, and new innovations in information dissemination. Pedagogical tools have been added to help enhance your understanding of research design and implementation, and extensive appendices show you how these concepts work in practice. Qualitative research is a powerful tool for public health, but it's very easy to get it wrong. Careful study design and data management are critical, and it's important to resist drawing conclusions that the data cannot support. This book shows you how to conduct high-quality qualitative research that stands up to review.
