O estudo investigou a disponibiliza o de bibliotecas em escolas prim rias p blicas utilizando as Directrizes M nimas do Ensino B sico Universal (UBE) para bibliotecas no estado de Kano. O estudo tem como objetivo descobrir at que ponto as escolas prim rias p blicas disponibilizaram bibliotecas em termos de localiza o, espa o, dimens o, mobili rio, cole o, organiza o, pessoal e financiamento, utilizando as directrizes da UBE. Os resultados revelaram que a oferta de bibliotecas nas escolas prim rias p blicas do Estado de Kano n o estava em conformidade com as disposi es das Directrizes M nimas para o Ensino B sico Universal. A maioria das bibliotecas n o estava situada em locais apropriados dentro da escola; o mobili rio das bibliotecas era inadequado; a cole o das bibliotecas era insuficiente para os utilizadores; n o havia uma limpeza regular dos materiais desactualizados das bibliotecas; havia pessoal n o qualificado nas bibliotecas. Os resultados revelaram que o financiamento e a falta de pessoal qualificado nas bibliotecas eram os principais obst culos cria o de bibliotecas nas escolas prim rias p blicas. O estudo recomendou que deveria haver um financiamento adequado para garantir que as bibliotecas escolares fossem fornecidas de acordo com as directrizes m nimas da UBE.
