On 6 April 1941, Nazi Germany, along with Italy and Hungary, invaded Yugoslavia after the overthrow of the Yugoslav regent, Prince Paul. Hitler sought to secure the right flank for his upcoming invasion of the USSR and assist Mussolini, who had failed to conquer Greece. The German attack was swift, and by 17 April, Yugoslavia capitulated, leading to the creation of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH). Ante Pavelic, leader of the fascist Ustaše organization, was installed as the head of Croatia. His government immediately began a brutal campaign of repression against non-Croatians, especially Serbs. This sparked rebellions, with Serbian Chetnik bands and Croatian communists forming separate guerrilla movements. The Croatian state was soon overwhelmed by these insurgencies. Italy further complicated matters by creating occupation zones within Croatia, supporting Chetnik bands, and hampering Croatian military efforts. The Croatian Army, unable to fortify its territory due to Italian restrictions, was often attacked by Chetniks and forced to fight on two fronts. Despite these challenges, including inadequate armament and the constant interference of its allies, Croatia maintained a military force that continued to fight until the war’s bitter end.

In 2017 Israeli General Eli Zeira (the head of Israeli military intelligence in 1973) confided this to Brill. Zeira convinced Israel's leaders, Prime Minister Golda Meir, General Moshe Dayan, and General David Elazar, that the Arabs would NOT attack (in spite of ample Israeli intelligence showing an attack was imminent). When Brill shared this revelation with a military correspondent, the journalist asked Brill if he had recorded Zeira's admission or if Brill had a witness to support this claim. "No?...No one will believe you "But on June 6, 2021, a just-released protocol of Moshe Dayan said exactly what Brill claimed Zeira confided in him: "12 hours before the attack Dayan received an American assessment saying that the Arabs are not going to attack." Completely confirming Brill's hard-to-believe claim.

The Coalition government strategically linked security and economic well-being and this linking was contextualized by threats both internal and external. By deepening the relationship of the US alliance in foreign, trade and defence policies, the Australian government sought to resonate on inherited and conservative perceptions of threat in the domestic environment. Maryanne Kelton introduces specific cases to demonstrate both the intensity and complexity of dealing with the US. Through these empirical studies the government's approach is examined across trade, security and industry sectors. In this book the authors systematically address the most common stereotypes or myths about Japanese education that are currently being circulated in the popular press, teaching magazines and educational research journals. The authors show how arguments about Japan are used to further political ends within the American educational debate. Some of the myths that the book debunks are Japan's high adolescent suicide rate. LeTendre and Zeng show that adolescent suicide among males is now twice as high in the U.S. as in Japan. Tsuchida and Lewis take on the myth of Japanese classrooms as crowded places centered on rote-learning--providing detailed evidence as to why Japanese students may indeed have an "edge" in math. McConnell uses Japan's highly successful foreign language program to deconstruct images of "Japan Inc."--showing the highly fractious and bitter political debates that occur in Japan. Yang provides data on differences in Japanese and American teachers' work roles--showing that differences in the two educational systems are not simply due to "cultural" differences, but have a basis in educational policy and school organization. Shimizu offers an alternative view of achievement motivation among Japanese students based on in-depth interviews with Japanese teens.
