"Images of life, love, humor, and the surreal on London’s Brick Lane form the basis of this sumptuous catalogue of photographs" — Street Photography Images of life, love, humour, and the surreal on London’s Brick Lane form the basis of this sumptuous catalogue of photographs. Today Brick Lane is a favourite tourist destination, famous for its street art and theatre, and colourful market stalls. For centuries it was a hub for immigrant communities entering Britain through the nearby docks on the River Thames. Sonya and David Newell-Smith, whose careers began in professional news photojournalism, have spent decades recording the changing streetscape and vibrant personalities of this East End district. This publication serves as a tribute to their passion for street photography, for capturing a ‘decisive moment’, and for documenting everyday lives and diverse cultures, their interactions, and emotional connections. Scholarly texts accompany over 170 photographs curated by Sonya in memory of David (1937–2017).

IM Ahmedabad has been, since its creation fifty years ago, India's pre-eminent management institution. A little over three years after it was set up, Vikram Sarabhai chose a young corporate executive, Ravi Matthai, to head the team of academics he had assembled at IIMA, many of whom had been trained at Harvard Business School. Matthai was thirty-eight years old when he was appointed the institution's first full time director. Though not an academic by training, Matthai succeeded in building on the foundation laid by Sarabhai, going on to create a vibrant institution that was unique in the world of education. This book is the story of IIMA - its conception, its distinctive governance structure and its unique culture - and how a highly gifted man created the conditions for its enduring success. It is an exploration of the vision and dedicated effort that made IIMA what it is today, a pioneer in management education in India.

A little mouse innocently plucks a flower from an old wall when a brick comes loose, and he can see through it for the first time. He and the other animals gradually and resolutely remove more and more bricks, until at last they can see another group of animals. Together they use the bricks that once divided them to construct a bridge to join their islands. This clever and touching wordless board book shows that walls can become bridges when everyone works together. It's a hopeful message that all children should see now.
