Celem bylo ustalenie wplywu diatomitu, skaly bogatej w krzemionkę, na żywicę dentystyczną. Prekursory zostaly scharakteryzowane: 1) żywica komercyjna: r żnicowa kalorymetria skaningowa (DSC), termograwimetria (TG), spektroskopia w podczerwieni (IR) i fluorescencja rentgenowska oraz; 2) diatomit: dyfrakcja rentgenowska (XRD), DSC, TG, IR, r żnicowa analiza termiczna (DTA), analiza chemiczna, analiza powierzchni metodą BET, analiza wielkości cząstek. Wykonano pr bki kontrolne i pr bki testowe (material wyjściowy plus diatomit). Przeprowadzono testy mechaniczne (wytrzymalośc na ściskanie, wytrzymalośc na rozciąganie, odpornośc na ścieranie, mikrotwardośc i ocena chropowatości powierzchni) oraz nową charakterystykę pr bek kontrolnych i testowych (TG, DTA, XRD, mikroskopia optyczna (OM) i skaningowa mikroskopia elektronowa (SEM)). Rezultatem jest bezprecedensowy material odtw rczy, kt ry może byc stosowany uniwersalnie, o wszystkich wlaściwościach mechanicznych lepszych niż material wyjściowy, w przystępnej cenie, syntetyzowany i charakteryzowany poprzez wzajemne powiązanie wiedzy z zakresu stomatologii i inżynierii materialowej.
