Finding Beauty in the Almost Invisible Moments of Everyday Life “I have always been interested in photographing normal, everyday life. For me the greatest challenge is to make an interesting image of something very ordinary, almost invisible,” reflects Finnish photographer Markus Jokela. His images are the result of coincidences and unplanned encounters with people and places. Jokela almost never stages his photographs. Sometimes he asks people to stop, to freeze, but usually he just snaps one or two frames and continues walking. Moments and Landscapes of Minor Importance were shot in Helsinki between 2019 and 2023. Most of them were captured within a few kilometers from where he lives. Jokela has won three World Press Photo awards, but despite his proximity to global moments, his personal projects often document everyday human life.

This book conjoins the painterly photographs of Andreas Muhe (born 1979), which examine the aesthetics of Nazism as expressed in posture, gestures and clothing, with 96 drawings by Markus Lupertz (born 1941) on sculptor Ludwig Munstermann's "Apollo"--both being playful explorations of historical pictorial traditions.
This publication surveys works by Austrian artist Markus Hiesleitner (born 1981) whose conceptual sculptures, installations and videos examine political, social, economic and ecological issues in contemporary life. Comprised of mass-produced objects like balloons and plastic shipping crates or compost and organic material, Hiesleitner's works are often characterized as "ecopolitical."
... After that did the secret service come to me. They brought a picture with them about the part of my video where I say that the catholic church should be forbidden, because they always killed all Christians, and they also came because of the other sentence where I say the same thing about the evangelical church. They were very strange people which I have never met in my life before neither seen performing in a movie. They were there for a very short period, about 10 to 15 minutes, I was not allowed to digress even one sentence without being rebuked very directly and very sharply not to digress and strangely they did not mention my criminal offense directly, but only said that these sentences (about the catholic and evangelical church) are against the law. But they did tell me two times explicitly that not only my doctrine, but also my life is "the truth". Although they admitted that it is the truth, they did say, it is forbidden to say that, whereupon I replied: "But it is the truth ", and they said: "Many things are the truth, but are forbidden." ...

Objects of Significance is an artist's book that grew out of a series of photographs and writings which Markus Vater (b. Dusseldorf, 1970; lives and works in London and Dusseldorf) collected over several years. They show and describe what matters to the artist: objects fraught with meaning, questions, relationships, memories. It is a creative and philosophical book, as funny as it is serious, delving into questions like: What do you see when you close your eyes and turn your head toward the sun? Or: How much does a cloud weigh? Vater has interviewed the North Sea for the book and ponders the wind. He sheds light on the conditions in which art comes into being and meditates on what holes are.
